I wonder how many of you have had to live without health insurance? You say that health care is not a right? NO WONDER! You have always had a place for the bills to go other then your mailbox! How many of you have ever asked what the actual cost of your prescriptions are? Do the math! Do you have any idea what it is like to call around from doctor to doctor trying to find one who would see you WITHOUT insurance? Have you ever stood at your doctor office and humbly asked for samples instead of a prescription because u know that your $360 check wont stretch enough to cover your $280 med bill AND the doctor appt. Don't even mention medicaid! If you make enough money to buy food and scrape by...you do not qualify.

Go ahead and be technical but if you ever run into some bad luck you will see things in an entirely different light!

"First, THAT is the ONLY reason you feel a lot of Liberals would put their life on the line? Incredible!!"

exactly, you said it, incredible, or, rather, without credibility, as I did not state that at all. why do you need to pull these things from orafaces I should not mention?

"Second, I'm sure Liberals serving in the military feel that they fight for other reasons than socialized medicine...protect our freedoms, love of country... "

why are you sure of that? Is there any reason for it, or is it just that assuming it that makes you feel justified in your beliefs.

as fara smost military being republican, I would be interested to see how many vote republican this time around. I made that assumption too before on this board, and got put rightly into my place.

So are you telling me that President Bush misrepresented the numbers in his speech? That he did not really mean that 40 million Americans (his words not mine, no mention of illegals either in his speech)were without health insurance? I just quoted what he said. After all he is our president, and I have heard time and again he doesn't lie. So perhaps he is insinuating or giving uneducated and unsubstantiated information on health care as he has done with other important issues?

I am just asking because you are saying the numbers he gave were not the true numbers of Americans without health insurance. You even took the time to prove the President wrong.

I want to make sure I get this correct, and not again fall into the trap of saying he was lying. :-) So who has the right numbers you or President Bush?

I am so tired of people who are completely judegmental goign aroudn calling other people judgemental. I am actually not judgemental of YOU. I realize that for all practical purposes I am posting to a person who I have made up in my mind. How can I judge that? I realize that you personally could be whoever.... I will never know, unless you stop in my town and want to come over for a cup of coffee, you will not know me either. Maybe you think I have a dog named Ganja and six kids, sans shoes, running around with uncombed hair lighting my incense for me as I tell play the sitar. I do not know, but I would bet you get a mental image when you read my posts, if not, you need to hone in on your creative side.

I never said I WAS mother Theresa, but I learn from her. She is the epitome of a humanitarian.

I like humans, even the ones that are always screwing stuff up. I like the ones that can't seem to get to their job on time, I like the ones with a huge wall of hatred around them, I like the ones with loads of money and status symbols but weaknesses all the same. I like the ones who bleed love like I never could. I like the ones who cry at the movies, I like the ones that fart and blame it on their shoe... I like all humans... when they are not trying to deny that they are human. Heck, I like them even when they are.

And I like you, whoever you are, though, I passionately disagree with you, I will do my best not to judge you, and guess who you really are.

"FYI, liberals can be found on both Dem, Repub and Indep parties."

Maybe it makes you feel authoritative, or like a big ole smarty havarti, but

FYI, don't be giving me FYI's on things that are common knowledge, because that is just wasted energy on your part.

and how many is plenty? I am only wondering how you can make sweeping generalizations and feel no remorse.

"There is also this difference with the average consumer product: Most Americans believe that access to doctors and hospitals is a right, not a privilege that comes with money. We don’t say that out loud either. Not yet. But federal regulations already guarantee treatment in case of an emergency. If you have pneumonia and need to see a doctor, a public hospital may not turn you away, even if you don’t have insurance."

As with more and more of the left’s ideology, I have to walk away thinking: “Nice thought, but entirely wrong, unhelpful, and destructive to the populace at large.”

Specifically to the editorial:

http://www.durangoherald.com/asp-bin/article_generation.asp?article_type=news&article_path=/news/04/news040618_4.htm

“The losses come at a time when hospitals already are losing money fulfilling mandates to provide free care to patients who can't pay… Hospitals typically collect 5 cents to 10 cents on the dollar from those patients.”

We lost another hospital about two years ago here in Denver because of the “must treat” mandate which sounds like a good thing on the surface to many, but while capitalism may leave some in the cold, liberalism shuts down the entire hospital.

LOL!! I was thinking the same thing. We keep hearing from others how we are not doing enough or we are doing it wrong, but if we criticize the way another country does something, well we’re just “arrogant Americans” that have never been through their system and obviously don’t know enough about their system to competently comment. Talk about double standards. I guess we’re just uncivilized.
