"Free" health care!

I wonder how many of you have had to live without health insurance? You say that health care is not a right? NO WONDER! You have always had a place for the bills to go other then your mailbox! How many of you have ever asked what the actual cost of your prescriptions are? Do the math! Do you have any idea what it is like to call around from doctor to doctor trying to find one who would see you WITHOUT insurance? Have you ever stood at your doctor office and humbly asked for samples instead of a prescription because u know that your $360 check wont stretch enough to cover your $280 med bill AND the doctor appt. Don't even mention medicaid! If you make enough money to buy food and scrape by...you do not qualify.

Go ahead and be technical but if you ever run into some bad luck you will see things in an entirely different light!

As I have observed, the military gets screwed by the government either way. Weren't their benefits reduced significantly? Didn't many older veterans get a mere pittance of what they were promised when they enlisted many decades ago?

Yes, and it does not matter which party is in office, either.

Hey, take a chill pill okay? I was being asked by someone I didn't know (and haven't had many if any conversations with) and who had only just joined the conversation if I had any young children. I don't think it's either out of line or unreasonable to wonder about that question given the topic being discussed.

They also have more expenses because they have better equipment and unbelievably high malpractice premiums.

There already is one in obstetrics and some other areas, and it is only because we have so many foreign born doctors practicing here that we haven't seen shortages across the board.

As difficult as our system is for doctors, thank goodness, it's so much better than in other countries.

well, what is charity then, selective welfare?

I have read and heard from many welfare theorists.

I do not believe anything that atttempts to justify my not caring, and doing what I can.

I model my life after my mother, who just helped, because she could, not because the person deserved it.

all of these "christians" are supposed to be wanting to help, with teh WWJD and all...

I am agnostic. But I think the most amazing person to live in my lifetime was Mother Theresa. I read about her all the time, anything I can get my hands on. and the first thing I learn from her is that one should not judge. For this if no other reason, I am not the person in question, therefore I am in a position to help.

to me welfare is a joke, it is so meager, adn yet so many complain, yet they never complain when their tax dollars go to provide a millin dollars worth of golf balls to corporate executives... But, hey that is admirable that they can't pay for those, they are the american dream.

I guess that is your opinion. Some people feel that our country is at war to open up soem financial opportunities for Mr. GWB.

and he is not putting his life on the line for free helathcare for his country, he is doing it for his family, (commendable, I agree)

A lot of liberals would put thier life on the line if it meant that everyone could have healthcare. A lot of liberals already serve in our United Stated Military. HOw can you assume that they would not? do you know all the liberals?

your observation seems to me to be a tad skewed. How are you getting your data?

I know loads of welfare recipients thru my job, and a lot of them are republicans. hm.

I would like to clarify this supposed "free" healthcare as well as other "freebies" such as housing the military gets. All one has to do is look at a military LES (leave & earning statement) and then you'll see what is taken out of their pay for these benefits. What on the surface looks like totally free health care, housing, dental so on & so forth comes straight out of the military pocketbook to help pay towards them.

The military put their lives on the line to protect Americans' freedoms. They are underpaid considering all they do for this country and all that living the military life entails (for both active duty AND their families).

First, THAT is the ONLY reason you feel a lot of Liberals would put their life on the line? Incredible!!

Second, I'm sure Liberals serving in the military feel that they fight for other reasons than socialized medicine...protect our freedoms, love of country...

Third, most military are Republican.
