Kerry: Gaining Edge on Terror

"Senator John Kerry said on Friday he would seek to persuade voters over the next three months that he would do a "better job than George Bush" in protecting the nation from terrorism..." http://www.nytimes.com/2004/07/25/politics/campaign/25KERR.html?ei=5065&en=789ba5a17982cc66&ex=1091332800&partner=MYWAY&pagewanted=print&position=

"In response to a question, Mr. Kerry said he has given no thought to the possibility of a terrorist attack taking place in the midst of the presidential campaign. "I don't think about it; I can't control it," he said." http://justoneminute.typepad.com/main/2004/07/i_cant_conrol_i.html

He certainly can inspire confidence.

No, you're response about his surrender is what was off-topic from my original point, which is why I ignored it. The point was about reasons for attacking those communist countries and what you say the US 'should have done" versus reasons other countries could have done to 'save americans' when there was slavery. Attacking a country to bring down communism is a lot less justified than attacking a country to free slaves. However bad communism was, it doesn't compare to the horrors of slavery. And that was my point.

OK, let's pretend France and the US were enemies if that makes you happy. And no, the relationship between France and the US has not been strained since the attack on Iraq.

And pigs are flying all around me now...

Isn't the system/government essentially bogged down during the months of the presidential campaign. That's a pretty big chunk of time to be not focused on running the country, if you ask me.

my point is simply that conservative doesn't necessarily mean fiscally responsible. Our recent liberal government did the most cutting of our deficit. But maybe that doesn't apply to the US, I just assumed that the concepts of liberal and conservative were relatively similar..

However it is the only time that we can actually see the President trying to do anything, just to get the votes.

Traditionally it has in the US.

The mantra of the Republican Party has always been smaller government and less taxation on the people along with fiscal responsibility...not saying that it has always worked that way however.

When was the last time you actually took a look at the relationship between France and the US?

If you dont call the relationship strained, then I dont think you understand the relationship.

Yes, slavery is an abomination, but how do you feel about Stalin?
