Kerry: Bringing Civility Back toPolitics

<
"We need to turn back some of the creeping, un-Pennsylvanian and sometimes un-American traits that are coming into some of our politics."

"I remember a time when people in political parties in Pennsylvania talked to one another and actually got things done. We have to go back to those days when we can do things properly, for the people need it."

"My prayers for you, for me, for the country, for the world, are that we keep this at a high level, with dignity, with respect and with a great idealism and courage that took our forefathers to build this great nation.">>

Only moments later...

<<Teresa Heinz Kerry, wife of Democratic nominee John Kerry, told a reporter to 'shove it'>>

Suit yourself. Here it is from CNN,

and MSNBC...

Better? You might want to keep in mind that just because Drudge (or any non-mainstream or biased source for that matter) reports something doesn't always make it mere gossip or inaccurate.

That's right, even the Star and Enquirer get it right once in a while.

As to Teresa - this was not just any newspaper but a right-wing one from Pittsburgh that consistently bashes Heinz Kerry and her family. Good for her. At least she didn't resort to the "F" bomb.

I really don't think Kerry can bash Bush. His supporters are already worked into a frenzy without being worked up anymore so. If that were to occur I think there would be blood-shed. Kerry's responsible enough not to let that happen - although I worry about NY as the more they deny the protesters the more worked up they'll be. Bush doesn't seem to get just how angry most of America is. And don't give me the lame line that it's just Dem/Liberals, because I've met quite a few Republican/Conservatives who are pretty upset that Bush would even suggest an Amendment to the Constitution, or his and Congress's lack of fiscal responsibility, handling of Iraq, now the 9/11 Commission about Bush being asleep at the switch, Corporate welfare, CEO unaccountability (as it affects their portfolio) etc. and these are guys I never thought would utter such things. I don't think that it's enough for them to vote for Kerry though somehow, but they're wavering.

Kerry is in charge of the campaign and it's was his campaign which decided to screen everyone's remarks and nix the Bush-bashing. Only Kennedy and the Clintons are being permitted to speak unedited.

--

The Kerry/Edwards campaign and the DNC are two distinctly different organizations. Now I may be WRONG about it, but I believe the The DNC is doing this convention.

Nitpicking stuff ain't it?

Now, I've asked you before and I will ask you again: What is the Bush bashing that Kerry/Edwards are engaged in.

I say the very notion of ANYONE WHO SUPPORTS Bush pointing the finger at the Kerry/Edwards campaign about running a negative campaign is BEYOND laughable.

If there's an expression which exceeds the notion of THE POT CALLING THE KETTLE BLACK, I'd like to know it because that's how you describe Bush/Cheney pointing the negative campaign finger at anyone.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. However, the reporter asked her to explain her comment about, "Unamerican Activities", when, in fact, she specifically said, "Unamerican Traits." He was, therefore, putting words in her mouth. Big difference between Unamerican Activities and Unamerican Traits. I think he was trying to corner her, and her comment to him was too mild. Way to go, Tuhrayzuh!

<< << Right, he's begging the Bush-haters to pipe down and put on a nice face so they don't scare anyone and alienate potential voters.>>

And Terry McAulliff has expressed concern that the Bush-bashing could get out of hand. "We are not Michael Moore" >>

<< So McAullife said it and not Kerry. >>

Guess I wasn't clear. Both Kerry and McAullife made similar remarks.

How did you find the 1st night of the convention? Gore, still not a great orator, at least wasn't screaming. While I don't agree with him or with what was said last night, I think it was finally figured out that people listen better to what you have to say if it's presented in a calm, reasonable fashion. Dems want to sway the independents (just as the Republicans do, of course) & , at least for the duration of the convention, want to be low-key while trying to their point across. Clinton was his usual self. I'll give him this anyway...he is a great speaker.
