Contrary to what Bush Supporters say, this release does nothing but show that George W Bush was paid for his so-called Service. This means little as everyone knows that he used his family name and father's influence to land the highly coveted National Guard position in the first place.
For most people, this isn't at all bad or surprising. Since the Revolutionary War, throughout The Civil War and up until WW2, people of means have always been able to 'Buy' their way out of Military Service. If your ambition in life is to be an Accountant for Ernst & Young, it's understandable that you avoid military service and not many would think twice about it.
There is much disagreement about whether Bush even finished the job that allowed him to avoid combat in Veitnam. The creator of Doonesbury has had a $10,000 reward for anyone that could provide tangible proof of serving with Bush in Alabama up for grabs since Febuary. That reward still lies unclaimed. I don't know about you, but having known someone who would one day become President of The United States would trigger a memory or two. I once attended the same high school as someone who played Guard for the Tampa Bay Bucs when they went to the Super Bowl. I never spoke to this guy, never had a class with this guy, but when I heard his name and looked him up, it came back to me very fast.
Now, this was a football player. You would think that someone who became President of The United States would invoke a similar memory or two from people in the National Guard. Nope.
This is why you will never see comparisons of George Bush's life in the early 1970's and John Kerry's life in the early 1970's. While one was shirking out on simple National Guard duty, the other was finishing up his tour with a 3rd Purple Heart award. While one went on to live the next 15 years drinking booze, snorting coke and running his newest Business into the ground, the other was beginning a life of public service that's lasted over 30 years.
Yes ladies and gents while Kerry was flipping over his first FLIP-FLOP, George W Bush was topping off the nights cocaine lines with large amounts of Alcohol before his life began at age 40.
For me, it's not nearly as important if George W Bush finished his National Guard duty or not. It's a matter that he was too much of a PUSSYCAT to defend his country from our enemies. When John Kerry was putting the drug dealers in jail as a Prosecuter, George W Bush was snuggling up to them to score his coke. Even if you can get past that, it's knowing that while John F Kerry was dedicating his life to public service, George W Bush's life hadn't even begun yet.
