Perhaps it is time for Dubya to choose a new hobby? After November 2 he will have PLENTY of time to develop new hobbies. ;-)

AP: Mountain Biking New Pastime for Bush

Updated 3:49 AM ET July 27, 2004

By SCOTT LINDLAW

CRAWFORD, Texas (AP) - Running hurt his knees. Swimming cramped his style. So President Bush took up mountain biking, a sport that gets him outdoors, pumps up his heart rate and, every so often, sends him crashing to the ground.

Bush offered a glimpse of his new pastime to an Associated Press reporter Monday, roaming the dirt roads and far-flung pastures of his 1,600-acre ranch. About halfway through, he sailed over the handlebars during a dangerous descent, but dusted himself off, picked up his $3,100 bicycle and kept riding......

Bush has only been riding the knobby-tired mountain bikes since February, yet he takes on dangerous sections that would give veterans pause. He keeps a cramp-inducing pace on long uphill sections, pouring it on to reach each peak, backing off a little to recover and then attacking the next hill.....

Bush's new bike is one of the best in the business: a Trek Fuel 98 made of high-tech carbon fiber. The frame is adorned with top-shelf components that Bush professes to know little about, including a motorcycle-style front and rear suspension that soaks up big bumps.

He had it specially fitted by a Washington bicycle retailer.....

But out on the trail, it's officially a politics-free zone. When the reporter points out that Democratic challenger John Kerry has a $8,000 road bicycle, Bush replied: "Who?"

He fell off again?

OK, that makes two spills for Bush in the last month.

Kerry fell off his bike last month as well.

My decision is made: Vote Lance Armstrong for President in 2004!

Or in Kerry speak:

"I actually fell off my bike before I got back on it."

Or in Johan Cruyff (soccer) analitical speak:

"Once you get it, that's when you get it".

Well at least he does not fall down the gangway stairs of Air Force One like Gerald Ford used to.

I am goign to guess a lot,

but I think that go left was trying to state how biking has little to do with the president, but I may be wrong.

No, it's one of my favorite pokes to make at Kerry.

Kerry was asked if he owned any SUV's and said he didn't own one, his wife does.

So, I like to take the opportunity to make references to this if it fits, sometimes it falls on its face.

happy2beamom2001 - "Kerry has a $8,000 road bicycle"

Interesting, Edwards spoke when at his party's Kerry nomination about a college student who sold her bicycle for $100. Seems Kerry rides while supporters walk. Poor college students are expected to give up their means of travel while Kerry rides in ultra extravagence... hmm... inquitable treatment... the rich taking from the poor... sounds like the Democrats I know....
