Perhaps it is time for Dubya to choose a new hobby? After November 2 he will have PLENTY of time to develop new hobbies. ;-)

AP: Mountain Biking New Pastime for Bush

Updated 3:49 AM ET July 27, 2004

By SCOTT LINDLAW

CRAWFORD, Texas (AP) - Running hurt his knees. Swimming cramped his style. So President Bush took up mountain biking, a sport that gets him outdoors, pumps up his heart rate and, every so often, sends him crashing to the ground.

Bush offered a glimpse of his new pastime to an Associated Press reporter Monday, roaming the dirt roads and far-flung pastures of his 1,600-acre ranch. About halfway through, he sailed over the handlebars during a dangerous descent, but dusted himself off, picked up his $3,100 bicycle and kept riding......

Bush has only been riding the knobby-tired mountain bikes since February, yet he takes on dangerous sections that would give veterans pause. He keeps a cramp-inducing pace on long uphill sections, pouring it on to reach each peak, backing off a little to recover and then attacking the next hill.....

Bush's new bike is one of the best in the business: a Trek Fuel 98 made of high-tech carbon fiber. The frame is adorned with top-shelf components that Bush professes to know little about, including a motorcycle-style front and rear suspension that soaks up big bumps.

He had it specially fitted by a Washington bicycle retailer.....

But out on the trail, it's officially a politics-free zone. When the reporter points out that Democratic challenger John Kerry has a $8,000 road bicycle, Bush replied: "Who?"

Seems to me that the college student did it on his/her own free will. So you think it is a bad thing for someone to sell something in order to support who they wish too? IF that is a democratic thing, that is very noble and praiseworthy. Will republicans be so unselfish and do something like that for Bush?

Besides, doesn't Bush use a bus, car, plane, and/or trains to get to where he is campaigning??? So why are you all over Kerry for doing the same thing?

Again your "republican" side is not very nice. It shows to me that republicans

--refuse to give up anything to help someone else,

--that they use double standards in charging how Kerry gets around to campaign stops vs. Bush's ways (they use the exact same ways)

I am just going by what you say in this one paragraph.

Well if that was their only mode of transportation, then student did give up something. The money the student received for said bike was allegedly given to the Kerry/Edwards campaign. So again, if this is how democrats are, one should be proud not antagonistic about it. Said student didnt borrow, steal, lie, or cheat for the money; said student gave up somethign of a value. Now tell me, is this wrong? According to the truemobile, it is, and I would like to know why. I would also like to know why said student is being made out as a victim. So I repeat, said student was being unselfish to do this act.
