A few thoughts about the DNC...

"Hi, I'm John Kerry! I will never privatize Social Security. When I was fighting in Vietnam that's the sort of thing I was fighting for...
- Who in the US doesn't have access to healthcare?
- We must remember to email the DNC and thank them for reaffirming to all of the country that the economy is on a roll. There is no way they would have ever allowed Jimmy Carter to speak if the economy was in a tenuous state. In poor economic times he would have been too much of a reminder to everyone of the bad times his presidency brought the nation when he was the choice of the Democratic Party. This is the first time he was allowed anywhere near the podium since his own convention in 1980. So the Democratic Party also thinks the economy is on a roll!
- We should never be surprised or forget how much the press, the Democratic Party, and the French loves Bill Clinton--he is a con-man! Imagine the number of used cars he could have sold or swampland in Florida. Remember, he never received 50% of the vote in either of his elections.
- Teresa Kerry gave possibly the strangest speech I have ever heard a wife give in support of her husband. She would like you to believe that she has somehow been oppressed much of her life and has shared in this so-called oppression with the other women of the US. She has this kind of condescending aura about her that makes me feel as though she has no time for me and is only interested in a one-sided conversation. She has placed herself in the line of fire with many of her anti-Bush comments. We should not be shy about leveling criticism her way since she clearly has decided to join in the fray and mix it up.
"Hi, I'm John Kerry! The SUV is a danger to our existence! The ones my family (not me) use we would like to sell but we can't find anyone to buy them. When I was fighting in Vietnam I grew to hate the war because I felt it would bring the evil excesses of America, such as the SUV, down upon the unsuspecting Vietnamese people..."
- I doubt the late Sen. John Heinz would have been proud to hear his son speaking at the Democratic National Convention any more than Ronald Reagan would have been to see his son do the same.
- Mrs. Kerry condemned two Democratic Party icons when she used the phrase "leaders who mistake stubbornness for strength". Wasn't it JFK who got us into Vietnam, wasn't it LBJ who kept us there, and wasn't it Nixon who finally got us out?
- Mrs. Kerry seemed to mention her husband as an afterthought in her speech.
- Why all this venom for Dick Cheney? I will put his resume up against anyone's on either side of the aisle! The Democrats fear him. The silly talk you hear in the press about rumors of him being dropped from the ticket are only strategically placed to deflect criticism that the choice of John Edwards hasn't set the country on fire as they thought--they didn't get the "bounce" they hoped for!
- Donald Rumsfeld is the best, most innovative, and toughest Secretary of Defense the US has ever had.
- John Ashcroft is one of the best Attorney Generals the nation has ever had. All the jokes and stupid comments about him "voiding" or "trampling" on the Constitution are baseless. The proof is that not one word (that I heard) during the convention came out in regard to Patriot Act (which many Dems voted in favor of). They know that most Americans are in favor of it. Constitutional scholars on both sides of the aisle have been complimentary of Ashcroft's tenure. The press and the many Democrats are put off by his strong Christian beliefs. This is a guy so full of character that he refused to challenge the legality of his senate loss to the late Mel Carnahan in 2000, even though many felt he was clearly in the right. The Democrats answer this act of class by mocking him as "the senator who lost to a dead guy".
"Hi, I'm John Kerry! I am for stem-cell research. When I was fighting in Vietnam, we often discussed this issue around the campfire..."
- Ron Reagan Jr. quite possibly disgusted me more than any other person at the convention. Using his dead father (whom he and nearly no one at the convention ever voted for) for his purposes he makes it seem as though the entire Reagan family is in support of stem-cell research. Note, his father was not and his brother Michael Reagan most certainly is not. We should not be surprised at some point if the Democrats are able to trot out Nancy Reagan to support this cause. The speech was awful. He clearly is his father's son in public speaking, but the content was a slap in the face. He made an incredible leap to imply that the successful cures for disease such as Alzheimer's are imminent and as simple as putting money in a gumball machine. His words "Let me try and paint as simple a picture as I can..." to help us all understand it were shorthand for "You're not as smart as me, and and if I simplify this it will make Republicans look bad because it will seem as though the cures are close at hand and they are against these people getting better". He neglected to mention 2 things in particular:
1) More success research has been conducted with adult stem-cell research than embryonic. Adult stem-cell research
carries no moral baggage. But, this would never be supported by the pro-abortion crowd who see the defeat of
embryonic stem-cell use as a loss in their camp due to the recognition of the embryo as a life.
2) He mentions a few successes in the embryonic stem-cell research, but far more gruesome, horrific results have been
documented of its use.
He also slaps the face of the entire Christian community by dismissing our Biblical morality as inferior to his humanistic views. He tells us we should be ashamed--the shame should lie in his use of his father's tremendous legacy to suit his own needs.
- Why didn't we hear much or anything at all about the social and cultural issues? Apparently the polling data on gay rights, gay "marriage", abortion, etc. didn't come back favorably. Have the Democrats conceded that the same old liberal lines don't resonate with the people any longer?
- Over and over we heard how John Kerry will "restore America's respect around the world". We are more respected around the world than ever before! Why do only the French and Germans matter? Millions of these foreigners would love to come live here and dream of doing so one day. Whenever they need help, to whom do they look? When money and other forms of assistance are needed for a vast array of humanitarian causes to whom do they look? When has it ever been easy to work with the French? Strength breeds respect! We are more respected than we ever have been, and if much of that respect is a fearful, grudging respect I am completely comfortable with that. Who in their right mind thinks our enemies will have the same level of respect for a John Kerry administration--they would vote for him if they could! If we stay the course as a nation we will see a huge change in the political makeup of the middle east and freedom will come to Iran, Pakistan, Libya, Egypt, Syria, and even Saudi Arabia. Would Libya have turned its nukes in to John Kerry?
"Hi, I'm John Kerry! We need to stop outsourcing jobs to other countries. When I was in Vietnam I was an example of an outsourced job..."
- Why didn't Joe Lieberman, Zell Miller, John Breaux, and Evan Bayh get to speak at the convention. If the goal was to act as pseudo-Republicans these guys could have done it and we would have believed them.
- Al Sharpton has guts! He was the only speaker willing to deviate from the master plan at the convention. When he lambasted the Bush administration for an unscheduled 15 minutes the crowd ate it up and showed the true Bush-hating colors of the convention. His speech also cut into John Edwards primetime slot--thanks!
- I kind of missed the old Al Gore. We had no pandering to the emotions with tearful stories of his family. No sighing or rolling of the eyes to laugh at. No one to explain how every problem we have has at its core global-warming. No making out with Tipper on the stage in front of millions!
- John Kerry would like us all to forget that he has a long record as a liberal senator from liberal Massachusetts. He has few accomplishments to speak of for 20 years in the senate. He also makes no mention ever of his service with Michael Dukakis as Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts.
- We need to see some more of Mr. Kerry's trip to NASA.
"Hi, I'm John Kerry! Prescription drug companies are making too high a profit. When I was in Vietnam we would often worry that one day we couldn't afford the drugs we would need when we retired one day..."
- Don't be fooled--these are liberal Democrats! When you hear hoofbeats in coming months, don't look for the zebra you heard in Boston! The zebra will lose its stripes soon enough and reveal its true colors soon enough--its the donkey! The biggest cheers at this convention came in the few moments of Bush-bashing that were allowed. The pro-Kerry messages didn't generate nearly the excitement as they hoped.
-Dennis Kucinich says we need a Department of Peace as a new cabinet level position. What a joke.
- John Kerry says he "will not wear his religion on his sleeve". What does that say about his beliefs if he doesn't feel strong enough to impress them upon any one else by his actions?
-Why didn't we hear about the Democrats Constitutional strain of blocking federal judges? It must have been the bad polling data again.
- does anyone really have a clue how the Democrats would solve the dependency on foreign oil? Unless they introduce some Fred Flintstone type vehicle, we do need fuel in the US, and the other options are still years from practicality on a mass-scale.
"Hi, I'm John Kerry! Did I mention that I fought in the Vietnam War?"

Ummm....exactly what planet are you living on? We are SO NOT respected around the world more than ever before.
Your kidding right?
A Democrat of all of 2 years, she once called the Democrats "putrid" and Ted Kennedy a "perfect bastard" (I think, even as a newbie Democrat, she still thinks that)! Oppression of women in US? Why, for instance, didn't she mention the women in Afghanistan? Sudan? etc. etc.
