How do you solve a problem like Tere-za?

"How do you solve a problem like Tere-zah?"
All week I've been whistling the tune from "The Sound of Music," mentally substituting the name Teresa for Maria.
"How do you catch a cloud and pin it down? How do you find a word that means Teresa? A flibbertijibbet! A will-o'-the-wisp! A clown..."

Actually I take pride in the fact that one of the things that distinguishes the likes of me from most liberals is that when our political opposition is doing something we agree with, we give them credit for it and even work with them to see that they are successful.
That's why I give Theresa credit for saying that she thought Bush reacted correctly on 911, and why I refuse to penalize a quality company who makes a quality products and stop buying Heinz just because of the Kerry connection.

<<All that money and a trusted household name and you Republicans can't get your hands on either. How that must gall you. >>
dude, get a grip! Republicans are not in the habit of looking at an individual's assessts and wishing they could cook up a scheme to get their hands on it. We respect private property and

Why cant we just appreciate differences in personalities, is it really necessary to demonize a person's traits/flaws/assets? Just because someone is a little different, or talks in a different cadence...is no reason to be threatened. She is an easy target JUST BECAUSE she is different. I mean really what has she done that is just oh so horrendous?
So Teresa is a little spicy like most worldy

This has nothing to do with her accent. I think it's cool. It has 100% to do with her attitude, and lack of self control, and the image the first lady gives our country. So you made a mistake, admit it, and move on. Don't try to act like you never did it and then get angry at someone when they correct you.
And other countries just look at us, point fingers, and laugh!
But you are right on one thing, role models should be those in the children's lives. Unfortunaley, kids look at the president, actors, first ladies and say "Wow! Can I be like that when I grow up?" Go figure.

Just because you say what you think, and the worst thing is "shove it"? you make it sound like she is just sooooo wild? big deal. if you dont like her, you dont like her, and you can find a reason to not like anyone if you try hard enough, but to criticize someone bc she had it out with a reporter is pretty lame. Have you ever been around a bunch of

for about the billionth time, there you are talking about "most liberals" as if you have spoken to a majority of them on any matter, and then you take pride in the fact that you make exceptions for people when they agree with you... I certianly don't consider that open minded in any way. While I am sure some people are going to go vote straight democrat without being educated on the issues, I am certian at least as many people will vote straight rebublican without any info. So if you are proud that you differ, then know that you also differ from many people in your own political affiliation.
I am a Kerry supporter, and Teresa would have to be a lot more out of line than this to change my vote. BUT I have to admit I was a little put off by the "Shove it" comment, and then dismayed by her remarks to the Bush supporters. I guess I just expect the First Lady (and the VP, no double standard here) to be more dignified than that. Not that I expect her to be as low profile as Laura Bush, but really. I like Hillary Clinton - as another poster said, she said what she thought, but she did it articulately and without ever losing her cool. Just my 2 cents...
"everyone knows that Teresa Heinz Kerry told someone to "shove it," though even there, the context was missing. Except for a brief reference on MSNBC, none of the transcripts I've read mentions that the target of her ire works for Richard Mellon Scaife, a billionaire who financed smear campaigns against the Clintons — including accusations of murder. (CNN did mention Scaife on its website, but described him only as a donor to "conservative causes.")And viewers learned nothing about Scaife's long vendetta against Heinz Kerry herself."
Quote from http://www.alternet.org/election04/19389/
"Perhaps the most spurious of the Tribune-Review's attacks came in December, 2003, when it ran a piece accusing Heinz-Kerry of secretly "funneling cash" from her Heinz Endowment to the Tides Foundation, a group that "supports extreme left wing groups... anti-war protests... unlimited abortion rights, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender advocacy, as well as and environmental extremism." The piece was based on research conducted by the right-wing think tank Capital Research Center, yet failed to mention that Scaife granted the center $240,000 in 2002 or that he was connected to it in any way. The article also omitted the fact that the Heinz Foundation's grants were all strictly earmarked for mainstream Western Pennsylvania environmental charities, an inexcusable omission that could have been avoided if the paper had bothered to call either the Heinz Foundation or the Tides Foundation to confirm its wild claims."
Quote from http://www.workingforchange.com/article.cfm?itemid=17376
"Last spring, a Scaife-funded "research group" sent out a study that accused her of covertly financing violent radicals of various kinds, including Islamists, through the straitlaced Heinz foundations that she controls. There was absolutely no basis for that tale -- as the right-wing sleuths could have learned by making a single phone call. The Heinz money they had "traced" through a San Francisco group had actually gone in its entirety to support anti-pollution projects in Pennsylvania."
Scaife's articles started an internet rumor; see the rumor rebuttal

She didn't tell just any reporter off, she told off a reporter from a newspaper that has gone after her, her former husband, and now Kerry, regularly with inaccurate stories. They publish obviously inaccurate and immflamatory accusations and were successful in starting internet rumors.
