Destroy All Religion

I believe the problem with the world and especially the US is the presence of religion. All religion does is promote hate, greed and get the Republican Party reelected. So I think we can all agree that we must get rid of all religion, especially the worst one of Christianity, but the question is how?

Here is my proposal. I find that weak people often turn to religion to 'ask' their God for things like daily bread or healthcare problems. So if government provides us all with free healthcare, free food and everything else free than people will realize that it is government that solves their problems, not some stupid god like Jesus Christ that never answers their troubles. Thus as government grows, religion contracts, look around the world and see that more government societies have less religion.

This is why I urge you all to vote for John Kerry, he will make things more free like free universal healthcare and free college education. His proposals are a good step in my opinion in ridding the world of all religion and faith, as like I just said people will look to government more for answers.

We all know religion is the root of all problems in this country, join me and vote Democrat so we can all move to a better world of no religion.

BTW, you did see the coverage of Kerry coming out of church a few weeks ago didn’t you? Doesn’t that make him an idiot? Or his he simply pandering to those “fools” on the right side of the isle for votes that are too dumb to know any better?

NO world will not be better off with no religion. There are so many answers that humans don't know so there has to be someone who knows and that is God. But having said that religion cannot be and should not be used to sway the masses. Each one has right to his or her own beleif. Politicians should use common sense and sense of justice not rule a country based on religious beliefs.

I vowed I would not post anything in this stupid thread, but I have been reading it. When you said this, it got me to thinking...

If someone believes that much that their government is going to take care of them, wouldn't it be the same thing as another believing that GOD or another higher power is going to take care of them? It is just another name, but the same feeling is there. Putting your faith into something or someone other than yourself. Isnt that exactly what most religions are about?...

Just a thought......

Yeah, I'm just waiting for "opiate of the masses" and "there is no God but the Party" to come out in a post.

Excellent point!

Anyone who depends on government to 'take care of them' is going to be sorely disappointed.

Renee - "Anyone who depends on government to 'take care of them' is going to be sorely disappointed."

Well too bad for all you neocons, because when Kerry gets in and the Democrats retake the house, we will have more government healthcare, free college education and more government daycare. Dependance on government is a good thing, unlike religion, because government will really take care of us all and cares for us with real observable action.

Go Kerry!

What you are saying has nothing to do with politics and really should not be brought up here in this forum. You have a problem with religion and there are others like you, however religion and politics are definately a seperate issue. At times their paths cross and the issues get worked out. I have much more faith in GOD than I do in any politician or government. But this is my opinion.

Getting rid of religion will not make the world a better place, there will always be wars, there will always be people hurting others, and there will always be evil. Religion often helps to counteract all of this in most people. Religion is not evil, it is that some people are so evil they use religion as their tool.

"Well too bad for all you neocons, because when Kerry gets in and the Democrats retake the house, we will have more government healthcare, free college education and more government daycare."

More unfounded assumption on your part, but at least you're consistent in your errors. Few of us here are neocons. Some of the people taking issue with your statements and claims are in fact democrats, so it's not just republicans who recognize the fallacious nature of your arguments.

As for those specific points you raise, just what does any of that have to do with religion or religious beliefs?

"Dependance on government is a good thing, unlike religion, because government will really take care of us all and cares for us with real observable action."

It's not the governments job to take care of us. Precisely where did you get the erroneous idea that it was? And why is dependence on government a "good thing"? Isn't personal responsibility a better thing than relying on anyone else to take of you *for* you? And religion isn't about something or someone "taking care of us", it's about the personal belief in a higher power.

"Go Kerry!"

Absolutely! And can he take your nonsense with him when he goes?

I am not a neocon. Could you please explain why communism has been a failure everywhere it's been tried, but you blindly put all of your faith in it?
