Bush supporters give me a break!

I have just read through some of the info on the GOP thread and this will be my first time posting a discussion, so here it goes:

I truly feel like whenever I hear a Bush supporter speak, it is like listening to someone with Stolkholm syndrome, THEY ARE COMPLETELY BRAINWASHED!!! I mean, honestly, unless you are living in a cave (without internet, mind you) there is no way that the Bush supporters do not intake the same news that I do.

HE LIED!!! HE LIED!!! Let this serve as a newsflash to anyone who did not know. THERE ARE NO WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. IF THERE ARE, HIS DAD SUPPLIED THEM. This is something that they were aware of befor the sent us into Iraq. That is unethical manipulation of your position of power.

For those of you who were just about to argue that we went in for "humanitarian" reasons to collapse the tyranical reign of Saddam, let me just halt you in your tracks. Why are we not in any country in Africa, in which there are civil wars, AIDs epidemics, and feminist repression running rampant due to governmental proceedings? Why are we not in China? Why are we not in Palestine (oh wait, I forgot, we are, sponsering their killing by the Israelis)? Becaus they do not benefit us? So what's the deal, we fight for humanity contigent on how much money we gain from it? Give me a break!

I read another posting about how Republicans are frustrated with the Democrats focus on how George Bush cannot speak. A couple interesting points: It worries us that he cannot speak because you'd think that after a couple years at Yale, the University rated number one on the recently released Princenton Review, that he would be able to process a few words. I guess the fact that he graduated with like a D average just does not count. Additionally, I would just like to call to attention the fact that over and over again science has come to the conclusion that the major difference between humans and the animal kingdom is our ability to speak, and our advanced methods of communication which in turn lead to organization and technology, thus the advancement of the human race. If he cannot speak, then he is getting closer and closer to the animal, right?

Finally, on the GOP thread several posters commented on how although Dems were calling them nervous, they were actually unwaveringly confident. Yeah, I would be too if my party had just rigged the last election!!

People, women, get to the polls!!

Let's make it like father, like son, one term!

You are completely correct. I have tried to ask my more moderate friends about Bush's success and none of them have been able to list one success of this administration. I'm always tempted to ask Bush supporters, How much they paid to get brainwashed? Did it hurt to get brainwashed. I always want to tell them to stop listening to Faux News and turn off right wing radio (Rush, Sean Hannity and others). They should start to read a newspaper.

Does art imitate life or life imitate are?

I think Moore just put what a lot of us Dems were already discussing and put it in a movie. I also think there was a lot left on the editing floor that could've been used.

Best point I've seen about Fahrenheit 9/11 is that nobody has sued for slander. Why? Because all the facts were thoroughly reviewed. However, I do agree that the assembly of those facts leads you to the chosen conclusion by Moore, but I think the facts alone would also lead you to that conclusion.

It was a great movie regardless of political leaning. The editing was great, the music chosen for particular points was hilarious ("I gotta get out of this place" as the plane takes Bin Laden's family out of the US) and I enjoyed it. But don't fear, my mind was made up before I saw the movie.

Well, ya know. I didn't agree with most things on Bush's social agenda, but was still willing to follow him (I supported him in 2000) while he went after Bin Laden.

Problem was, he used one buttcheek to go after Bin Laden while tens of thousands await justice from 9/11 and remained focused on Iraq, that's where I dumped my support the slime throwing Incumbant.

But wow, we're on our way to meddling in a Civil war in Iraq and we're going to stop Gay Marriage!!

<<"Since his arrival, Ashcroft has rushed through the U.S. legal system with the same rampaging rage as a Baghdad looter, thoughtlessly shattering artifacts in looking for things of instant value. What remains are pieces of Americana, like the presumption of innocence and due process, that lay in shards after only a two-year period." --Jonathan Turley, Appetite for Authoritarianism Spawns an American Gulag, May 2, 2003 >>

The 911 reaffirmed the need for The Patriot Act.

Here! Here!

If a thread is for Republicans only than you would be correct to say that Dems should not post there. However, I don't see why a Dem can't read the open board and then start another thread to comment or vice versa. There is no private clubhouse on an open board format. If you only wanted a Dem or Repub center than I would think either campaigns website provides such a blog.

I think both right-leaning CL's should leave the poster alone. On the other boards I've been on the CL's act as lifeguards and only get involved in extreme cases, most don't even post other than to say "Hello" and welcome new posters.

CL's that lean one way or another is just fine.

CL's that lean while posting misinformation, that brings the entire forum down.

It's funny, most of the people who HATE MM now are the same ones he spent years fighting for in the late 80's and early 90's. Of course not many know that, the same kind of people who consider Bowling for Columbine an Anti-Gun movie, that one always cracks me up.

Why? Not because he's LIED. Because he does what so many IN ENTERTAINMENT (Hannity, Rush, Coulter.... Moore's got nothing on them) do: HE SPINS.

Spinning is the worst, because it takes the truth and angles in a certain way. Like some of my own liberal spin poison:

You oppose Gay Marriage, but support laws that allow potential foreign terrorists to enjoy many more benefits and privledges in the United States that American Born citizens cannot.

That, is pure venom. But is it untrue? No.

I know you've never been a fan of those threads, but I wouldn't characterize them as private. They are just a safe place for people who want to make a comment to others who understand their
