I truly feel like whenever I hear a Bush supporter speak, it is like listening to someone with Stolkholm syndrome, THEY ARE COMPLETELY BRAINWASHED!!! I mean, honestly, unless you are living in a cave (without internet, mind you) there is no way that the Bush supporters do not intake the same news that I do.
HE LIED!!! HE LIED!!! Let this serve as a newsflash to anyone who did not know. THERE ARE NO WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. IF THERE ARE, HIS DAD SUPPLIED THEM. This is something that they were aware of befor the sent us into Iraq. That is unethical manipulation of your position of power.
For those of you who were just about to argue that we went in for "humanitarian" reasons to collapse the tyranical reign of Saddam, let me just halt you in your tracks. Why are we not in any country in Africa, in which there are civil wars, AIDs epidemics, and feminist repression running rampant due to governmental proceedings? Why are we not in China? Why are we not in Palestine (oh wait, I forgot, we are, sponsering their killing by the Israelis)? Becaus they do not benefit us? So what's the deal, we fight for humanity contigent on how much money we gain from it? Give me a break!
I read another posting about how Republicans are frustrated with the Democrats focus on how George Bush cannot speak. A couple interesting points: It worries us that he cannot speak because you'd think that after a couple years at Yale, the University rated number one on the recently released Princenton Review, that he would be able to process a few words. I guess the fact that he graduated with like a D average just does not count. Additionally, I would just like to call to attention the fact that over and over again science has come to the conclusion that the major difference between humans and the animal kingdom is our ability to speak, and our advanced methods of communication which in turn lead to organization and technology, thus the advancement of the human race. If he cannot speak, then he is getting closer and closer to the animal, right?
Finally, on the GOP thread several posters commented on how although Dems were calling them nervous, they were actually unwaveringly confident. Yeah, I would be too if my party had just rigged the last election!!
People, women, get to the polls!!
Let's make it like father, like son, one term!

Because the world community has decided to control proliferation of WMD's given the threat they pose, especially in the hands of arguably rogue nations which not only refuse to abide by UN resolutions set on it, but have established themselves as a distinct threat not only to neighboring countries but to their own citizens as well.
"If all he can do is stutter and make up words, than I guess he is the perfect representation of the public education system that his party has managed to screw."
The problems in our public education system go much further back than any recent president. Once again you're attempting to lay the blame on one person or group when the fault is shared by many.
"How is it that someone won the popular vote but lost the election?"
Government 101, you might want to take it sometime.
The Founders didn't want any one state or group of states to have the ability to force the election based on their much higher population base, so they instituted the Electoral College to protect against such an event. As a result, the popular vote, while an interesting statistic, isn't what the election is based on. The Electoral College count is the only number that really matters when it comes to electing the president.
"Is it not more telling that more Americans voted for Gore?"
Interesting? Yes. But not anything of consequence to our electoral system.

Now, the same UNSC who overwhelmingly put 1441 in place wanted to wait until the job was done. 1441 was after all, put in place to "strengthen the inspection process."
Also, I didn't see 'Serious consequences' named in any other resolution than 1441. Nor has military force ever been used (Like desert storm) under any other name or phrase than Military force.
I like and respect your views, but I am unable to find anything concrete that says the inspectors weren't allowed to do their job, just varying opinion.
Kinda moot now tho aint it :)
However, I have to say that I disagree with your statements about why we are in Iraq. Not for the Warheads, they are not there. Not for Osama, the 9/11 commision ruled that there are no signifigant ties to Iraq. Probably for the oil.
But like you said, we are wasting our time and money on a war that is a farce. It is displayed as a liberation war for humanity but we could be distributing money and time to countries all over the world that are in violation of human rights acts or UN conditions. But we are not. We have concentrated on the Middle East because 9/11 gave us an excuse to, particularly in the case of Iraq.
So the UN was grossly negligent? There are several orders across the decades and around the world that the UN issues that are not followed because the UN and the World Court are not given enough power to be able to enforce them, or because they simply just do not enforce them. Why was it this particular set of orders or why was it this particular country against which we chose to enforce orders?
Sounds a bit suspicious . . .
If you want to talk about competing loyalties and interests, why don't you look at us? In case after case of human rights violations, the US has acted only on the ones that will benefit us. Kuwait, Iraq, and Israel are our competing loyalties and interests. But our administration upholds that we had to liberate people from their tyranical dictator. What is happening in Saudi Arabia right now? They are under a tyranical dictator, but it conflicts with our interest in their oil to protect their people.
Which is why I did not post to your thread, to be respectful to your requests.
I created a new thread that is an open debate about the topic that I selected. Please refrain from asking me to post where and when I want to. I chose not to post on the GOP thread out of respect for you all, please do not tell me that I must post in a DEM thread alone, because I did not just want the opinions of DEMs but of GOPs as well.
Your wish is not to debate in an open forum, fine, that is your choice, then do not visit my discussion, because that is what it is.
I will not visit a DEM only thread, thank you very much, because I want my opinions heard across party lines and I want new info, even if it may counter my beliefs, brought to light.
Additionally, how can we not be considered a rogue nation when we bomb whoever we want for whatever fabricated reason we choose? Additionally, was it not us who went against the UN in attacking Iraq? Is that not rogue?
In terms of the public education system, there were underlying previous problems, yes, but his policies contributed to growing problems and did not solve existing ones.
