I just have one thing on my mind... I am going to Iraq in a few weeks. I have accepted a position within KBR(Halliburton) in their human resource department that is located in Iraq. I have to fly down to Houston, they wanted me this Monday, but I have to much to do before then, so they allowed me to fly their on Aug. 16. From Houston, I will be flown into Iraq. This is something that I thought about long and hard, but I feel I have made the right decision for me.

Anyway, for some reason I just thought I should tell everyone. While I am scared, I am more thrilled and excited to worry about the risks. Wish me luck!!

My goodness! This is certainly a shock!

From what little I know of your background, it sounds like you will be a valuable asset to Iraq, and we all know how desperately they need every asset they can muster.

Congrats, god bless you helping Iraq. I do hope rumors of great pay to do this aren't overrated, any American going to work in Iraq really should be getting combat pay :-)

I will be there for one year, a contract. My friend has been there for one year and loves it, before that she was in Kuwait for one year. I signed up for either Iraq, Kuwait, or Afghanistan- they chose Iraq. I wont be doing much, just working in human resources department so not much of a mission. The funny thing the parts that scare me to death are:

1. snakes

2. flying

3. cold water showers

They cant tell me where I will be in Iraq, but they did tell me my camp name. So I emailed my freind, Eve, so she can tell me if that is where she is and if not if she knows anythng about it. She emailed me last week a picture of her and Colin Powell. Obviously no one is allowed to leave the camp, so basically nothing but work. They have areas set up for fun, internet cafes, pools, bars, etc. but only the internet cafe appeal to me.

Hahaha, so I wont be that far away. I am trying to set up my website now, so it is easier for my friends and family to contact instead of emailing everyone....

The pay is toooo good to pass up and you dont get taxed until after $80,000. YOu get mini vacation every 4 months for 10 days and they pay for your air fare up to $900 anywhere you want to go. Besides, this will look great on my resume...
