Kerry lied to get purple heart?

The records should be able to shed some light on this if Kerry chooses to open them to the public.

'Larry Thurlow, the skipper of a boat trailing Kerry's, says in the book that he saw Kerry suffer a buttocks wound earlier that day in 1969 when he was hit by fragments from his own grenade while trying to destroy a Viet Cong rice cache.

"He dishonestly transferred the time and cause of the injury to coincide with the action later in the day and claimed that the cause of the injury was the mine exploding during the action," the book claims.

In Kerry's version of the incident, he says a mine struck his swift boat - wounding him in the buttocks and arm.

Kerry maintains he braved enemy fire from both shores to race to the bow of the boat and pluck Rassman, who had fallen overboard, out of the water.

But, the book says, "Many participants in the incident state that neither weapons fire nor a mine explosion occurred near Kerry during the incident.

"Unless one believes in the amazing coincidence that Kerry got two wounds in the same place on the same day, he lied to get the Purple Heart," the authors say.

Rassman is backing Kerry's presidential candidacy and he supports Kerry's version of the rescue.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

ps.....Many of the men in the ad WERE on the swiftboats in the same squad as Kerry. You really should double check your facts.

The funny thing about this whole mess is that the general American public who is saying Kerry doesn't deserve these medals is stating "Hey you military people, we just dont trust in you. You gave Kerry a purple heart, but yet we feel it is not necessary or you have doctored his medical records." Good going republicans, it is great that you have so much trust with our military and the decisions they make!!!

Page 1, Feb 20 1969 "Kerry suffered shrapnel wounds in his left thigh, when PCF 94 came under intense hostile A/W and rocket fire. Condition good, prognosis good...... Treated by MD aboard USCCC ...and returned to duty with coastal division"

Page 2 March 13 1969 "Kerry suffered shrapnel wounds in his left buttocks and contusions on his right forearm" "Condition good, prognosis excellent" "Treated by medical officer aboard ....and returned to duty with coastal division"

Somewhere else, I don't recall where, I read that for the 3rd Purple Heart he had shrapnel removed from his arm.

Since he got injured in his butt, you could accurately say HE PUT HIS A*S*S ON THE LINE. To say anything less, would be a lie. As for allegations that his injuries were minor, regulations do not require that injuries be major to qualify for a Purple Heart. Would you like that changed? If so, start a campaign to do so.

"For conspicuous gallantry and intrepedity in action while serving as Officer in Charge .............................Kerry's devotion to duty, courage under fire, outstanding leadership and exemplary professionalism directly contributed to the success of this operation and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the US Naval Service"

http://www.johnkerry.com/pdf/jkmilservice/Fitness_Reports.pdf

"A most capable officer who demonstrates a high degree of maturity beyond his age and experience."

"His enthusiasm for the Navy and his work is contagious, and his men are ardent supporters of him. His division's morale is one of the best on the ship due to his dynamic leadership" ..... "highly recommended for promotion to LT ahead of his contemporaries"

Oh, did you notice the NUCLEAR WEAPONS TRAINING CERTIFICATE? I'm pretty sure Kerry can pronounce nuclear correctly, whereas Bush cannot. Wanna bet Kerry understands nuclear weapons issues better than Bush does?

And did you see the TOP SECRET CLEARANCE? I suppose you think all this was wrongly written up & approved? That's a big conspiracy theory IMO.

John Kerry earned his purple heart fighting for all of us, even the ones that now try to belittle his service to his country. It seems like people should be focussing on the problems facing our country now, not hearsay of what happened over 30 years ago.

John Kerry has chosen to bring up what happened some 30 years ago repeatedly and as a principle reason why we should vote for him....

Alston Never Served Under Kerry

So now, Kerry has someone NOT EVEN UNDER HIS COMMAND VOUCH for him. How pathetic is that? What a joke Kerry is becoming--him and his delusions of grandeur.

So who's telling the truth?

First, from a Kerry campaign press release:

On March 13, 1969, Rassmann, a Green Beret, was traveling down the Bay Hap river in a boat behind Kerry’s when both were ambushed by exploding land mines and enemy fire coming from the shore. Kerry was hit in the arm, while a mine blew Rassmann’s boat out of the water. With enemy fire coming from both sides of the river and swift boats evacuating from the area, Kerry’s crew chose to turn their boat toward the ambush to save Rassmann.

“We were still under fire, and he was wounded at the time…,” recalled Rassmann. And with his boat’s gunners providing suppressing fire, Kerry extended his wounded arm into the water and the two lieutenants locked arms.

Then we have a Wall Street Journal article by Rassman:

While returning from a SEA LORDS operation along the Bay Hap River, a mine detonated under another swift boat. Machine-gun fire erupted from both banks of the river, and a second explosion followed moments later. The second blast blew me off John's swift boat, PCF-94, throwing me into the river. Fearing that the other boats would run me over, I swam to the bottom of the river and stayed there as long as I could hold my breath.

It is just so hard to keep the details straight.

This is America? Are you kidding me? How many times does the Bush machine have to ruin somebody's reputation before you catch on to their game? They did it to John McCain in 2000. Do you not remember that people were hesitant about McCain because the Bushie's painted him out to be a "loose cannon"? To think we ever thought McCain might be the loose cannon after what George Bush has done militarily. Egads. They said Max Cleland's lost limbs were self-inflicted wounds too. The guy lost three limbs from picking up a hand grenade that had fallen, nobody knows who lost it for sure. Now they're doing it to John Kerry. It's what they do.

Did you know Bob Dole got his first purple heart from a hand grenade that bounced back on him after HE threw it at a tree. Is that a self-inflicted wound? Did any Democrat ever suggest such a thing?

This is the sickest, most vile thing I have ever seen in my 46 years as an American. Kerry volunteered for military service, not for one tour, but TWO tours. And our President admits he didn't want to go to Canada, didn't want to get his head blown off, so he joined the Guard. He ADMITS he avoided Vietnam. Cheney says he had "other priorities". You people have the audacity to tarnish somebody's WAR SERVICE, when your own candidates couldn't bother to show up at all. The point here is that the only way we could have a discussion about Kerry's WAR SERVICE is if he was actually IN A WAR. We're comparing WAR RECORDS to AWOL records. I cannot even believe it.

Listen to yourselves. Listen hard. You are committing the most unAmerican, unpatriotic act there is. Jim Rassmann, a Special Forces guy. Special Forces. And you're questioning his word. It's absolutely unconscionable. Just sick beyond all words or reason.
