Will terrorists try to disrupt election?

There have been rumours that Al-Qaeda or some other group of Muslim terrorists will attempt to disrupt U.S. elections by doing a terrorist act in the U.S. right before the election.

It would be easy enough for them to do if they really wanted to, there are several million Muslims living in the U.S., the terrorists could easily hide in U.S. Muslim communities, much as they did before 9/11. And we have very poorly controlled borders and coasts, terrorists could sneak into the U.S. as well.

Do you believe that Muslim terrorists will, for whatever absurd reason, attempt to disrupt our U.S. elections?

The four links you provided showed that a lot of people opposed the war in Iraq, but not necessarily Aznar, and one of the links can hardly be considered an objective news piece since it was written by an Spanish anti-war activist. The reason Spain is used as an example is because polling data before the terrorist attack showed that Aznar was going to be reelected in spite of the Spaniard's opposition to the war, and everyone was calling his defeat an upset, shocking, surprise, etc. Even one of the links you provided called Zapatero's win a "shock victory."

<<"They'll try to use an attack to influence the voters in the U.S., like they did successfully in Spain. They're probably hoping that an attack will scare Americans into voting for a candidate who is more likely to give the terrorists what they want.">>......ITA!!!

You might like to read some of the following link to a thread on the WOT board (April 04) re the situation in Spain.

Yes, I do think there will be attacks/attempted attacks by terrorists between now and the election. I'm half expecting something to happen during the RNC later this month. Since the terrorists' attacks in Spain did seem to influence the election there (in favor of the terrorists), I'm sure they'll try to accomplish the same thing here.

They also very clearly express the people's disdain for

The first key to wisdom is constant and frequent questioning, for by doubting we are led to question and by questioning we arrive at the truth.  -

I guess you all are hinting that Terrorists like Kerry. But the fact is none of the candidates like the terrorists. I don't think anyone has ever claimed that Kerry likes terrorists. SO we all can vote our choice of candidate irrespective of whether the terrorists like him or not.

Let the elections decide who we really wanted to vote for.

I should have known that this thread would regress into partisan bickering, doesn't it always on this board?

All of you are missing my major point.

Obviously neither Kerry and the Democrats, or Bush and the Republicans like terrorists.

And Kerry is very different than the Spanish opposition was. Kerry has made it clear that he DOES NOT favor an immediate withdrawal from Iraq, as the new Spanish Prime Minister did.

My major point was THIS; Is America doing enough to prevent another terrorist attack. A major attack like 9/11 or worse would of course disrupt elections nationally.

America has nearly unpatrolled borders and coasts. We let in huge numbers of immigrants, including millions of illegals. There are millions of Muslims in the country, including many immigrants from the Mid-East, whom our government knows little about and what they are doing.

Our government, despite the orange, pink, purple, yellow alerts, simply isn't doing the things it needs to do to prevent another terrorist attack.

THAT was my point!

Put aside the partisan bickering for a moment and realize neither Democrats or Republicans in our government are properly securing our borders, controlling immigration, or checking into potential terrorists living in America.

Oh, no doubt they like Bush best. According to most of the right-wing posters here, Kerry would shot a wounded kid, just because he could. Get his dander up and look out. And Bush? Joined up to fly obsolete aircraft.
