I'll just bet that George W. and Jeb had something to do with causing hurricane Charley to hit Florida. Wait and see...somehow they will make money off this or better yet, cause voter fraud. Those Conservatives are ruining the whole country. They will stop at nothing to STEAL another election from us.

If you think for even a second that the election being stolen is not a possibility then you must be ignoring all the evidence that has been there since the election. Of course people were angry and still are. Good luck to the Bush administration this time around. I would like to see them try to pull that off again.

<<"you must be ignoring all the evidence that has been there since the election">>... Then why hasn't "all the evidence" been tried in the courts? Why is Bush still in office?

I really don't understand this.

Why is Bush still in office? Because Al Gore is a great American who was willing to accept the decision of the Supreme Court rather than push our country into chaos more befitting a banana republic. Can you imagine if we still weren't sure who our president was by 9/11/01? The Republican party has chosen to paint Gore as a clownish looser when really he's one of the greatest patriots of our time.

From the NY Times op-ed following the Supreme Court decision:

http://quest.cjonline.com/stories/121300/sup_1213007372.shtml

"The United States Supreme Court has brought the presidential election to a conclusion in favor of Gov. George W. Bush, but its decision to bar a recount in Florida comes at considerable cost to the public trust and the tradition of fair elections. Our national history bears the comforting lesson that the American people's confidence in the rule of law and the stability of their institutions will not be damaged in the long run. It is incumbent on citizens and elected officials alike to respect the authority of the ruling and the legitimacy of the new presidency whether or not they agree with the court's legal reasoning. In the short term, Mr. Bush and Vice President Al Gore bear great responsibility for bringing the nation together in spirit if not in immediate political agreement. Mr. Bush needs to be gracious and unifying in victory, and Vice President Gore must master the difficult task of placing the national need for continuity ahead of any bitterness he may feel."

Well, Gore held up his end of the deal...but I'd like to see anyone try to describe the last four years under George W. Bush as "gracious and unifying." Instead, Republicans have decided to freeze the bitter 2001 contest in our minds with their obnoxious "Red America" line of t-shirts, hats and coffee mugs and then ask everyone not sporting them to sign a "loyalty oath" before watching our elected president speak. At least they've finally stopped telling everyone who disagrees with them to move to France. Unity? My ar$e.

That's a hoot....the Supreme court was the end of the line as far as the courts go; Gore had nowhere else to take his case. A great American would have conceeded on Election night rather than drag the country through more than a month of legal wrangling.

Regarding not knowing who the President was on 9/11, wouldn't have happened. The House of Representatives has the power to pick the President if neede be....

George, Cheney and co. may be too powerful for my liking, but this is going to extremes.

Possibly so, but acts of God are hardly within their grasp. Unless you buy into Gw's perception that God really is on his side.

Well...isn't Haliburton making money?

I'm curious actually. I don't know how they are doing.
