Wait and see...

I'll just bet that George W. and Jeb had something to do with causing hurricane Charley to hit Florida. Wait and see...somehow they will make money off this or better yet, cause voter fraud. Those Conservatives are ruining the whole country. They will stop at nothing to STEAL another election from us.

You could also make an argument about the voters in the panhandle that felt disenfranchised because the networks had erroneously called the state for Gore, when the panhandle still had an hour to vote.

Look at the voter history in the panhandle and you will see that there were between 25,000 and 35,000 fewer voters from the average elections, and you will also see that in the 2000 election the votes were going almost 80% to Bush and 20% to Gore.

I agree that the entire Florida election situation was a disaster, and I also think that this new idea of computer voting is a HUGE disaster waiting to happen.

I think that for election reform, the networks should not be allowed to call a given state until 1 hour AFTER the polls have closed in the entire state.

Popular joke down here in South Carolina/Georgia low country, which thankfully was spared too much damage from Hurricane Charley: “Howard Dean announced he thinks the timing of this hurricane, and the fact that it hit the swing state of Florida, was suspicious. He thinks the timing of the National Weather Service’s hurricane warnings may be politically motivated, and wants to know why, ‘every time Bush is in trouble, some horrific natural disaster comes along at the right moment to help him out.’”

well, as most adults know there are ways of making things happen within the paramenters that the parametners do not cover, but are still unethical. votes were lost, a great number of them, nobody can argue that, votes that magically happened to be lost due to a counting system employed by Jeb Bush and happened to throw away many votes, in particular certian groups of voters. It was a tie and then counted again and again because there was fraud involved, many people felt that even before it was common criticism. Many people tried to fight this but to no avail, what was a country to do?

Oh you mean the thousands of ballots that are shipped in from our men and women overseas, and since they are sent through APO's and not the USPS, they do not have postal marks on them, so some brilliant Democratic strategists came up with the idea that these ballots should all be declared invalid. (Which is exactly what happened in 2000, but you didnt see headlines in the NYT, Washington Post and LA Times about that, did you)

I'm curious actually. I don't know how they are doing.>

Actually Halliburton's profits are down since they've started working on Iraqi contracts. Guess trying to rebuild a nation's infrastructure in the middle of vicious terrorist attacks isn't the easy money they thought it was going to be-except they've been doing it since WWII-maybe they knew that it was a highly risky, very expensive undertaking. Nah, bet they thought it was going to be one big fat easy cash cow.
