Oh PLEASE let the RNC keynote speech be

televised(on network tv). They have that evil man doing the keynote speech! When you look at Zell Miller you see the hatred just oozing out of him. I mean you never see him smile. He is always frowning and looks like he is mad at the world. He just oozes hatred. I want the American people to see him ranting and raving. He is the PERFECT keynote speaker for the RNC. He is the poster child for GWB's party. Oh and I hope he declares himself a Republican while there. It will be so wonderful not to hear him referred to as the Democratic Senator. I'm ashamed to have an evil man like that as a part of the Democratic party even on paper. Let the American public (that watched cable coverage) compare the optimism of Barack Obama and the hate filled speech of Zell Miller talking about how the Democratic party left him and blah blah blah. I think the choice in keynote speakers tells you a lot about the candidate and the campaign.

seems pretty late in his game to be switching, and funny that he is just now realizing that he does not like democrats. Seems like he should have some convictions by now, how old is the guy? what a nerd. Nobody likes him anyway.

I know. It is pretty late in the game to be switching. Especially since he is retiring or whatever anyway. The news stations were saying he is rumored to be announcing the switch at the RNC.

Zell Miller is far from a hateful man. I know him. He is speaking out against the Democrat party to which he has tried to be loyal to for YEARS, but they have moved so far left, he cannot support them any longer. He stayed with the party to be a balance but there isn't a middle ground anymore. He sees that the number one threat to our country is Islamic terrorist groups that cannot be reasoned with. He KNOWS that it's insane to think that the French and Germans will be willing to put forces in Iraq while we are pulling ours out.

Watch him. He will not spout hate like you accuse him of. He is a true southern gentleman who will speak the truth he knows. Just because you don't agree or like it, it isn't "hate". It's admirable.

If Bush gets reelected he'll probably replace "In God We Trust" with a slogan more suited to him, although he'd probably want it personalized. Something like Peace(as in shut up)...Or Bush'll Bomb Ya'll

I will be the first to admit that I do not know a lot about Zell Miller. I DO know that every single time that I have seen him on tv he seems to be frowning and yelling while spouting hateful things. He served no purpose by staying within the Democratic party. As I have said, I do not have personal knowledge of his voting record but I have heard that he voted ALL THE TIME with the Republicans. If he agrees that much with them then he should be a part of their party, not ours. Now it would be different if he were someone like McCain that parts with his party sometime when he believes they are wrong. However, it seems like Miller was with them more than he was with his own party. I will be watching as he gives his keynote speech. If I'm wrong I will freely admit that afterwards...

He's a conservative Democrat, which was an important constituency in the Democrat Party before it marginalized itself. Miller spoke at the DNC convention in '92, but I don't recall if he was the keynoter.

He's also one of the few remaining 'Yellow Dog' Democrats, which is why, no matter how far off track he thinks they

From the news reports I've heard, yes, he was the keynote speaker in '92. I heard that he ridiculed Bush Sr. mercilessly.

Right. Maybe the Republicans should take a cue from Kerry and Edwards and be all smiles, snuggles, hugs and pats. What the world needs now, is love sweet love... Perhaps he's a serious man because there are serious issues going on in the world. Personally I could do without a lot of the "charm" oozing from the Dems...

I don't get it. I thought one of the reasons that a lot of people like Bush was because of his contrived down home "charm".

Well, I wouldn't be one of them. I don't really see any of that, I do appreciate to some extent that he is not a slick, smooth talking politician but someone who seems to speak from the heart (admittedly at times bypassing the brain). But his "charm" escapes me, maybe that's what people like about him, his lack of a fake, put-on persona. As I've said here before I personally wish he were a better and more persuasive public speaker, because while I agree with many of his positions I feel like I can explain why they are right better than he himself can. Of course you couldn't read anything about Bill Clinton without something being said about his "charm" and "magnetic personality", but to me he had all the charm and magnetism of a slimy used car salesman.
