"The Kerry campaign calls on a publisher to 'withdraw book' written by group of veterans, claiming veterans are lying about Kerry's service in Vietnam and operating as a front organization for Bush. Kerry campaign has told Salon.com that the publisher of UNFIT FOR COMMAND is 'retailing a hoax'... I think that the Veterans vote is going to make a very large difference in this race, which is why the Kerry campaign is trying so desparately to quiet the veterans from speaking out against him.
If what these people were saying is truly a lie, then Kerry should have something to prove it, and then be able to have a court stop them from saying these lies. So far, it doesnt appear that Kerry is able to do that, and in fact, has changed his story relating to three separate incidents as a result of this criticism.
It appears to me that Kerry is the one flailing in the water on this issue, so I think he is finally getting the big picture on how he really upset a lot of people who served honorably in VietNam and had to deal with what he said when he returned from active duty.

No, he wasn't claiming he alone committed war crimes while everyone else stood around and watched. Obviously the implication is that he AND the men who served with him committed war crimes-something those men all fervently deny. It certainly IS a smear to every man who served honorably alongside him. Of course Kerry himself has since backtracked when asked to list which war crimes, exactly, that he personally committed.
And again, most of the men who served with him do NOT see themselves as war criminals, even if John Kerry does. What about their free speech rights? Are they supposed to sit quietly and not defend themselves against his attacks?
Now that is a statement that I think everyone on here will agree with 100%.
I dont have a question about his service either, just about why his stories keep changing after he is confronted about his version of the facts.
AMEN to that, Venus!

Also after I got out of service I was in WA and established VA disability there, then moved to florida and went a year trying to get them to straighten my records out. They kept saying I was still living in WA sending my VA stuff there, I would have them fix the info in the computer, and weeks later it would show up back to the old address and number. This went on several times, was messing up my apts and such and transfer of disability case to FL. Then finally we found out someone in WA was changing the info back to my old info everytime I had it fixed. I had to call both WA VA and FL VA and have them put a note in my records, and tell them to stop changing my info. Now it's fixed.
There was also problems I had in service with ashma. I had a test done in Basic that showed a problem but the DR's said nothing was wrong with me. I looked at the test results while I waited over 2 hours for the dr to come in and say that. I then turned it in to the front desk, and those test results never got back to my medical records. I had several times after that I went in with breathing problems and the dr's wouldn't check they insisted I was hyperventilating, one said I was hypoventilating, until my last year I talked to a dr with ashma and he said all my symptoms indicate that I do have ahsma. He documented me with ashma, and while I was waiting on a VA medical board they had me tested for ashma and low and behold, it came back pos.
