What will you do if Bush wins?

I would like to know what you all will do if Bush wins? I don't know if I can handle another 4 years. Any ideas of how to reclaim our country and restore democracy and freedom? I'm worried that another 4 years will increase the authoritariansm and absolute power that Bush has come to claim and further trample on our constitution and individual liberties. I'm truly frightened.

<<"These things would be a start to solving the problems in our nation that are literally creating a genocide of this nations middle class.">>.... is this another example of your "tongue in cheek humor"?? Just curious as to why you see it fit to use the term "genocide".

PS - for those of you that think pooring money into systems like heatlh care and education are the answer, policy analysts have demonstrated time and again that more money is rarely effective. Usually competition is what makes things perk up. You really need to understand both sides of the heatlh care debate and the education debate before you make a choice. It's almost impossible to agree with the democrats concept that more money to these systems is the answer. Look at the European health care system - horrible! Absolutely scary. And that is what ours will turn into.

<1. Close loopholes, and eliminate laws that subsidize American companies moving jobs off shore, so that we stop decimating the American Manufacturing Base.>

Are you aware that there are studies showing that outsourcing actually results in jobs gains, since it allows companies to pay less for the jobs they can't find workers for here, thereby freeing up money for greater numbers of higher paid employees in this country? It also results in IMPORTING of jobs from foreign companies.

<2. Increase the Minimum wage to a wage that allows people to meet bare basic human needs. $12.00 an hour I would think a far point to strike for in this endeavor. >

Did you know that most union contracts compute wages on a multiple of the minimum wage? If you want to drive more manufacturing jobs out of this country, raising the minimum wage to 12.00/hour would be a certain way to do it. You would also end up with fewer jobs, since small businesses who provide the majority of jobs in this country could not afford as many workers and would simply hire fewer. The only way to raise wages to a livable level is by job growth, which results in fewer available workers, which results in competition for those workers and higher wages. Raising the minimum wage to 12.00/hour would do nothing but bring job growth to a screeching halt.

<3. Build a serious deterrent wall to stop the illegal influx of aliens from our Southern Border with Mexico, and begin the task of gaithering up and repatriating them to their home counties.>

I agree, and the only reason I believe Bush will not do any of this is becasue he wants the Hispanic vote. We have got to something about illegal immigration in this country, unfortunately I haven't heard one candidate for president offer to do a thing. Sacrificing our national security on the altar of political correctness, IMO.

<4. Pass laws that create huge fines and prison time for any and all American citizens and companies caught using illegal aliens in the work force...fact of the matter is, if they can no longer find work, they will no longer have a reason to come. >

Sounds good to me...

<5. Pass a national law making English our official language, and anyone seeking to live here should be required to learn to speak, read and write the language, or be deported.>

You lost me there. I don't believe the government ought to be mandating what language someone speaks.

<6. Begin imposing VERY STIFF tariffs for any country that has unfair trading practices with American. Would also immediately withdraw from NAFTA, and cease endorsement and involvement with the World Bank. >

I'm all for the tariffs on unfair trading practices, not sure about NAFTA, in theory I generally lean on the side of free trade but I would have to study a little more what the effects are on the economy either way.

You want for instance better schools. A) Stop allowing illegals to use a system they are not contributing to, and B) Pay for education on a flat use tax, instead of making those of us who no children but who own property carry an unfair share of the costs of education. As long as I see myself paying more in property taxes to support schools than a supposed great Christian family with five kids does, I am my friends will vote NO on every school levy coming down the path. That's the problem with families in America, they expect single adults, married adults with no children and the gay population of America to gleefully and happily support their LIFE CHOICES, while insulting and ridculing ours. You want truth...Christians are not all that upset about gays being married, except for one small thing...having to suddenly have that big piece of pie they greedy guard divided in a more fair and equitable fashion. Why shouldn't a gay stay at home partner be entitled to collect on their partners Social Security benefits...stay at home wives do.

Curious here...in Bush's administration, 5 plus million people have slide into poverty, including 800,000 children in the last year alone. Another five million American Middle Class Americans have lost their health coverage in that same time span, and in Bush's time in office, he has created a NEGATIVE 1.2 million jobs, and the jobs he has created pay on average 27 percent less than the jobs lost.....

Now, looking at that kind of systematical decimation and destruction of a specific class of people, what would you call it other than genocide?

Saddam to Hitler...Think not. Yes, Saddam is no prince, but Hitler was in a league all of his own. However, using your analogy, we rightfully should have gone into Iran and North Korea first, as they truly represent a far greater threat than Iraq could ever hope to have presented, and the reality of life is, that we had Saddam CONTAINED.

So, how do you justify a cost of over 500 BILLION dollars, and over 1,000 American lives lost, not to mention lost face on the world stage, and a humiliating defeat in having a lunatic cleric allowed to go free with full and complete amnesty for the deaths of Americans he caused....you call that VICTORY, and even now there is no end in sight. Oh, tell me this too....why are our American Soldiers now taking ORDERS from an interium Iragi government? Is it me, or does that just not rub you in the wrong fashion?

Bush Record:

1. Under estimated the terrorist threat as was outlined in August 6th DAily Presidential Briefing, and in doing so, set the stage for 9/11 to happen. Ask yourself this...if the Whitehouse on that day had issue ANY KIND of a public statement or warning to our airports, do you really think 9/11 would have happened, or been as bad?

2. Totally freaked out and sat in a classroom in Florida for 7 minutes while our nation was under attack. F 16 fighters supposedly missed intercepting the plane that crashed into the Pentagon by two minutes...do the math on that seven minutes we lost because of Bush, and at least the damage of 9/11 could have been mitigated.

3. Bush last year declared Mission Accomplished, yet just this week admitted that he underestimated the aftermath of the war...that meant we lost MORE TROOPS after the fighting was over, than we did in the war.

4. Five million more Americans are without health coverage under Bush Administration.

5. 1.2 Million NEGATIVE jobs created during Bush presidency, worst in over 50 years.

6. A stagnant stock market.

7. Worst environmental record of any sitting president in this century.

I could go on, but you get the picture...a close scrutiny of the Bush record is all any one should need to see to know we NEED CHANGE, and that even Charles Manson of Helter Skelter fame would be a better choice than Bush for President. So, yes I am voting for Kerry.

This is just a comment on the school tax issues. The reason why everyone should be paying for this is because we all have to live with each other. Poor education results in kids getting out of school without the skills to contribute to society, which leads them more likely to a life of crime, or living off governement assistance. (Removing government assistance would just mean all these kids end up in crime later in life). The next time your house gets broken into, or someone steals something from you, or a friend is mugged, etc. consider that this may have been avoided had these people received adequate, nurturing education during their formative years. THose who don't want to pay for education taxes should consider what kind of people they want to be living in their country with. It's understandable not to see this point immediately, because yeah, it seems unfair, you don't have kids, why should you pay. Hopefully this will convince you of the importance of having well funded education, since everyone will be affected by the level of education the next generation comes out with.

unfortunately, i do not have these same fears as i live in canada. however, the simplest way to protect the democracy in your country is to not vote for him. vote for anyone BUT him! perhaps campaign against him to others in your area that feel the same way. perhaps suggest to others to view the film fahrenheit 911, that will clear up a few questions/concerns you/others may have!

Isn't it worth having a discussion with people of different opinions so that we can learn from each other?
