What will you do if Bush wins?

I would like to know what you all will do if Bush wins? I don't know if I can handle another 4 years. Any ideas of how to reclaim our country and restore democracy and freedom? I'm worried that another 4 years will increase the authoritariansm and absolute power that Bush has come to claim and further trample on our constitution and individual liberties. I'm truly frightened.

Dear Nisa77,

My dear, you speak volumes of wisdom, stating exactly the sentiments of so very many American citizens (myself included!) Survival is at stake for us all.

Whatever you do, please do survive!

We hope and pray that America elects John Kerry 2004.

ForeverHugs,

It does not convince me...reality is, that property owners are forced to pay for the school systems, and too often, LARGE families are not property owners, and so do not in reality contribute to supporting the schools they are using. It is time that the family pays for what the family wants, which means finding a better way of funding the school system than real estate taxes.

To often, on numerous levels, those without children are routinely EXPECTED to pick up the tab for families with kids, and that is NOT FAIR. Look up descrimination in the work place against single people, or married's without children...we are always the first to be asked to STAY LATE, as if we do not have a life, while those with children do! Come on, that is simply not fair, nor equitable.

My neighbor has SEVEN children, yet the pay the EXACT same property taxes for school that my wife and I do without any children...that is NOT FAIR. The list is quite extensive, and could go on, but one example, is the 143 tax breaks that those with children recieve on federal taxes that my wife and I do not get. Why should we be forced to subsidize the taxes of those who opt to have a large family, why should we subsidize their school system. Surely you cannot tell me you believe it is fair that a family with seven kids in the school system pays the exact amount of school taxes that we pay with no children.

I so hope you are right and I fear another voting machine mishap, or worse yet a terror alert that causes the president to suspend voting for an indefinite period of time. I saw what they did last election to get power and I know they will not go quietly into the night this time either.

It is ignorance to believe otherwise. Please educate yourself on this topic. Read what the majority of scientists say, not what your favorite politician is saying. Open your mind and learn instead of being selective about who you will listen to and calling everything you don't want to hear "junk" science.

Being Christian does not mean that when you are president you can bring your religious views into decisions about running the country. There are many Americans who live here with many different religious and non religious views and we all have a right to live here happily and to be respresented by a government who has no particular religious agenda. Thus the separation of church and state. Thus Kerry by law has to support the laws of the land, ie. a woman's right to choose.

Women did not always have the right to kill their babies just because they hadn't given birth to them yet. Tell me, why is it legal to abort a baby, but a person that kills a woman and her unborn child can be held accountable for BOTH lives? Pretty weird huh? Just because we women don't want to be held responsible for our actions we can kill our children.

Please don't come back to me about rape and incest, yes, I've seen the results of that too, aborting a child isn't going to nullify a rape. I'd also like to see the statistics on the # of abortions performed that are the result of rape or incest vs the # that are a result of a lack of planning. Just an FYI, I once believed that abortion was a good thing, that it helped keep people from having children that couldn't afford them. That it allowed people that weren't ready for parenthood to delay it. That it prevented parents from having 'abnormal' children. I know that there are, in rare circumstances, times when an abortion may be medically indicated, but those occurances are not the norm.

I no longer understand how it became ok for a women to kill their child, just because it hasn't been birthed yet. For me, this isn't even about religion. It's about right and wrong, it's about personal responsibility. It isn't responsible to make a baby go away because the birth control didn't work or worse yet, birth control just wasn't as important as fullfilling some hormonal urges. But back to Kerry, if he can tell us that as a Catholic he believes that life begins at conception, then he is telling us that he believes it's ok for a woman to kill her child. Why do we bother to put the limitation to only killing those that haven't been born yet? If its a life as Mr Kerry has stated is his conviction, then it's a life, born or not.

Could you get any more off target? This thread has not, nor is about the abortion issue and debate in American, and like it or not, our government should not be in the business of legislating morality as the Christian, relgious right zealots would have us do.

Even God supposedly gives us freedom of choice in our lives, so why not simply let a women have her God GIVEN freedom of choice, and leave the issue up to God and that one single person. Maybe all those on the side of PRO-LIFE should A) start adopting some of these unwanted children in America, and B) get involved in something productive, like protesting against the epidemic of child neglect and abuse that runs rampant in America. Better yet, maybe they should stop worrying about gay marriage, and instead spend more time seeing that the divorce rate that is over 50 percent is lowered....after all, if marriage is so sacred, why not a constitutional amendment banning divorce?

isn't nice we all have our own opinions and can express them. Some day the people that lived under Suddams rule might have the same freedom thanks to George Bush

I'm personally still not sure about everything with the election. Kerry seems pretty good. I'm not sure about Bush since he didn't warn people about 9/11 and he knew about it. I would have appreciated it if he did tell people about it. Also, what about all the freedoms he's not letting gay people have? People now days are more open into their sexuality and everything. He's taking away their rights because of his beliefs. When people come to America they expect to have their freedoms and that means everything I would think. It's nobody's business what other people do as long as they aren't hurting someone physically or emotionally. I'm still not sure about everything though. I guess I have to read more and stuff. Hopefully whoever wins can fix things and make things go better for the country. Things down here have been bad financially. Our schools down here in the southeast area are talking about cutting things. I haven't heard if they have yet or not though but they're talking about taking out some sports, bus options and resource officers. The high school that I went to is going downhill (I've been out since 2001) and they definietly need their resource officers. I think they have one now though. TVA also had to cut a lot of people earlier this year. Luckily my dad still works there. I think they mainly got people who were ready to retire. He's been having to work a lot more though then he has in the past. I just hope whoever wins knows what they have to do to make us feel safe and improve everything with our economy. XOXO.
