What will you do if Bush wins?

I would like to know what you all will do if Bush wins? I don't know if I can handle another 4 years. Any ideas of how to reclaim our country and restore democracy and freedom? I'm worried that another 4 years will increase the authoritariansm and absolute power that Bush has come to claim and further trample on our constitution and individual liberties. I'm truly frightened.

What exactly did they do last election? I don't remember hearing. Oh and do you think things would have been worse or better if Gore won? I'm just curious and always like to go "what if" so I was just wondering. XOXO.

<"Don't take my money away from me." Don't tax me, don't make me stop polluting because it will cause me to spend money to make my production cleaner, don't raise my license tabs, don't help anyone else or worry about the economy because it will cost money. It sounds very simplistic but there it is.>

It does sound very simplistic, it's a very simplistic inaccurate view of what I believe. I don't oppose tax increases because I am greedy and want to hoard all of my money, I oppose them because they stifle economic growth, slow down the economy and create unemployment. I oppose them because I think there are better ways of providing people with healthcare, education and charitable help than handing all my money over to the government and allowing it to be funneled through massive, wasteful bureaucracies which have proven that they are extremely inefficient at spending it. I am not wealthy, I am comfortable but I contribute to charity and I volunteeer my time to help others-I am not greedy, I am simply educated and informed about where our hard earned money is best spent-and it's not best spent on a lot of pork barrel projects to help a lot of congress people get elected. The federal government should be about providing basic infrastructure and national security, and in my view not a whole heck of a lot else. The rest is much better provided by local governments and individuals. That's why I don't want to see taxes raised, not because I am greedy and want to hang on to my last dollar, but because I want the money spent to help the most number of people in the most efficient manner possible, and to help those who want to better themselves be given the opportuntiy to do so instead of being incentivized NOT to better themselves.

Earlier this year I've read that some families who aren't Christian (wiccan, pagan etc) have been getting hassaled etc. This one family was being accused as sacrificing children and stuff. So it seems that other people's religion isn't mattering as much anymore. :( I wish the next President will put their beliefs aside and just go with what the country needs. XOXO.

I do believe things would be much better under Gore. The bigest, and only complaint I had about him is he sucks as a speaker, very boring, very monatone, almost robot like. But not being able to speak/having no charisma doesn't mean he wouldn't make a good pres. or do a good job.

I totally agree. I have taken a couple and I find myself frequently saying "they really need to take some speaking classes."

Because of Bush's tax cuts, many people lost jobs and many pograms were cut that benefitted alot of people. I too used to give money to charities, til after 9-11 when people were outraged to find out that their money wasn't going to the victims families like they thought they were supposed to. You may think that by giving to charities that you are doing a good thing, but the truth is only a small portion of what people donate actually goes toward the cause. Charities have alot of overhead also.

There is a huge gap between the wealthy and the poor. My DH got his companies annual report recently, the bigwigs retirement plans, just the companies matching gift was more than the store managers annual pay, and the store managers make alot more than the employees. It is not unreasonable, unfair or communist, to ask that they spread the money around, lessen the gap some. How is it fair to pay people minimum wage, when they get outrageous bonuses.

A study I read not that long ago said that if minimum wage kept up with inflation, minimum wage should be over 8 dollars an hour.

As for the election, I live in Florida. I'm not so sure Bush actually won the last election, and since 95% of the people I have talked with face to face are not voting for Bush, I don't see how he can possibly win this next election.

Believe me, you're not the only one who's frightened at the prospect of another 4 yrs. of Mini-Me.

The worst part is, we don't know if he was actually even elected in the first place!

This President has sent us into a war that smacks of revenge for Bush Sr. (Does anyone really think we're any safer in this Administration? Guess again.)

He has managed to alienate most of our allies, make the rest of the world hate us even more than they did before, and if he gets re-elected, I'm probably going to get the hell out of this country. No joke.

I guess we should be grateful that at least we have the 1st Amendment right to free speech! Because I think if he gets re-elected, we can kiss even more of our rights and freedoms goodbye.

My life has not improved under this Administration. I have to pay out-of-pocket for crummy health insurance, jobs are scarce, and one of my relatives was actually sexually assaulted ON THE JOB, and thus far the Federal Government, who is actually a CLIENT of the company where this happened, as well as the company itself, has done nothing to help her.

So, for every person who think Dubya's just great, there are probably many more who didn't want a President assigned to us, we wanted a President who would be fairly elected.

My favorite post is from the Bush supporter who tells us not to believe the "propoganda." GET REAL.

Did anyone see the "propoganda" when Bush's handlers couldn't get him to be quiet in time, and he joked about wanting to be a Dictator instead of President?

(This footage disappeared rather quickly in the media after it happened.)

In my opinion, he acts like a Dictator.
