What will you do if Bush wins?
| Fri, 08-20-2004 - 12:02pm |
I would like to know what you all will do if Bush wins? I don't know if I can handle another 4 years. Any ideas of how to reclaim our country and restore democracy and freedom? I'm worried that another 4 years will increase the authoritariansm and absolute power that Bush has come to claim and further trample on our constitution and individual liberties. I'm truly frightened.

1. For starters, anyone who read the post that has gotten you so riled up could tell it was a tongue and cheek spoof on the Republican party based to some degree in the truth of what is known to be the base of power that Bush has played to now for his entire time in office...the fact you have chosen to respond with such a venomous, hate filled putrifying, ill worded and concieved post makes me wonder if I hit far closer to home than my humor had intended. Perhaps if I had tossed in a barb or two about Double Wide trailers, tornados and shopping for Nascar collectibles at Walmart your anger might be at least somewhat understandable, but I resisted that urge to paint a portrait of reality for the readers on this board.
2. You do not like my positions on abortion, and that is your perogative...what is not your perogative, is to stoop to breaking the rules about personally attacking other members in a mean spirited and disrespectful fashion. Bunching me in with a bunch of Dumbocrats is fine, nor would I consider it a personal attack, but stooping to calling me closed minded, rude and arrogant I would consider going over the line, even in a debate of such a heated type seeing as this nation is so divided, more so than even during the times leading up to the civil war.
3. You basically paint me out to be closed minded and bigoted. Before you are so quick to cast stones in my direction, I would like to show you your own words used in your post to me that describe your view of someone on welfare:
*******Come here to the south and see all the welfare, food stamp families that will never change because the Dumbocrates continue to let them live that way at our expense. When you see a 400lbs woman buying little debbies, fruit punch and cigarettes with her food stamps maybe you would vote Republican too!******
You claim to be a Christian, you claim to be open minded, you claim to be a person of high moral standards, and yet you toss out this deliberately antagonistic stereotype of a person in their greatest time of need? Let me give you a few clues here...I know far more about Rural America and the people that live there than you could EVER HOPE TO KNOW. Yes, I live in NY, but my roots are buried deep into the byways and highways of Rural America. I've rushed over to my neighbors farm in my pickup truck to help get the hay bales in before a big rain storm, or to help keep a horse moving suffering from collic. I lived for a good portion of my life in South Eastern Ohio where 20 percent of the population lived at or below the poverty line, and some 40 percent of the population recieved some kind of governmental assistance to make ends meet. I've seen communities barely hanging on after the big coal companies left...of course though not until they had decimated and destroyed the country side strip mining for coal. I've watched a near and dear friends farm get sold at auction for back property taxes because a bad season destroyed his crop and there just was no money to take care of the bill. Sure, I've moved away, but I talk to my long time family friends back in them thar hills and hollows, I keep up with what is going on. Hard working middle class Americans trying desparately to hang on because the only plant in town was closed down, their jobs shipped off somewhere off seas. Truckers on the road for weeks at a time trying to stay afloat because fuel prices have taken away what little profit there was to begin with after making the monthly payment on the truck. You do not know me, you do not know the life I have lead, you do not know from where I come, but you sure seem more than quick to judge me....tell me, how Christian is that?
Do I dislike Bush...with a PASSION! I dislike the man so much, that I would consider voting for almost anyone rather than see family, friends and a future generation of children suffering any further from a poorly thought out set of policies that are decimating and destroying the very fabric of this fine country. If you choose to blindly follow George Bush down this fools path of destruction, that is your choice, but I am going to do what ever I can to convince people to vote for change, as the road we are going down is one bent on destruction and pain.
Here's a thought to console those of you who aren't so Republican you'd vote for Hitler himself if he were the GOP candidate:
If Bush wins, then the self-righteous, the ignorant and uninformed, the blind leading grinning blind who march through streets holding flags celebrating wars in countries whose recent history they know nothing about--will get to witness the most historical moment for their fuhrer when the true patriots working to do so now finally get their hands on that one piece of evidence they need link the California-born Bushes to the all the little things they forgot to tell us. This long silence by the opposition that this fascist administration brushes off as "liberal", will be over. Then this country will thunder and lightning, turn inside out with an impeachment remembered by school children for generations. America will swing way farer to the left in four years than it has in 100. That's right, folks, as much as I like Kerry, I'll admit it, I'm looking forward to a long-term balance. Just like Spring weather in Indiana, it must get worse to get better. We must believe it will. Vote for Kerry, but embrace the worst, because the sweetest revenge is yet to come.
If I made the guess that you are middle-income, would I be correct? So, do you not know anyone who is poor? I graduated with a Masters, started my first entry level no-experience job making more money than I dreamed, and plan to make more, but I know poor people. My "Maamaw", is from the Southern, chicken farming area of my home state Arkansas. People on late night comedy or reality shows, well, anyone I'm sure would love to make fun of her. I have a nice car, but I occasionally take public transit and wash my clothes at the laundromat--just to be next to someone different. I don't know what your spriritual beliefs are, but in boardrooms and conferences, around the BMW driving freshmen at SMU, you do not feel the strength of the angels. They do not frequent the corners of our world that to us are obvious. They are on that bus with old people, freezing in the cold with angry alcoholics, and they stay up late with abandoned mothers at the laundromat who are moving on. You must judge a person, each and every one, by their spirit. Fat women eating twinkies I find often have great spirits, and if you're lucky, hey they might just say a little prayer for you! ;)
so that everyone will wake the heck up. I feel for you sister, I am brave enough to say that he is a very evil force and I just hope the people can win out over the electoral college or we are screwed, I am only voting for kerry to get bush out. Poor Dean was humiliated for what? a stupid laugh! Havn't we all been shamed enough by bush's nazi tactics. I fear his re election too- alot!!!!
