I would like to know what you all will do if Bush wins? I don't know if I can handle another 4 years. Any ideas of how to reclaim our country and restore democracy and freedom? I'm worried that another 4 years will increase the authoritariansm and absolute power that Bush has come to claim and further trample on our constitution and individual liberties. I'm truly frightened.

<<"The truth is most women/girls who carry a baby to term will not give it up.">>........do you think that is a bad thing? If so, why?

I agree with you about abortion. Even though I am for life and having the child, what if for some reason the mother can't have the baby? Then I'd rather have it available in a clinic done by a professional and someone who knows what they're doing and legally. There's lots of different reasons why someone would want an abortion. If it was illegal and someone was caught somehow doing abortion does anybody know what would happen? Just curious as to if anything has been said about that. XOXO.

*I* sound ridiculous? I was merely taking *your* reasoning (namely, that people should not be held responsible for the consequences of their actions) and extrapolating it to another level to demonstrate how patently absurd it is.

And in case you hadn't noticed, millions of people believe that abortion IS "killing someone."

Yesterday I was listening to Recent study on human brain has shown that human brain is developing even at age 13 untill 17 or 18. Teenager's front part of the brain is not completely developed. Also this makes them in need of rush and excitement. So teenagers are always looking for excitement. They don't get a rush from going 50mph, they need to go 70mph. Also the amont of alcohol that gives and mature adult a high doesnot do enugh for a teenager. Also if you ask them questions about taking drug and its consequences, their answers will be same as an adult but when they are put in a situation they maynot be able to make the right choice. This is all because of the physical development of the brain that is still incomplete. So having sex inspite of knowing all consequences is still possible.

And your point is? That they shouldn't be held responsible for their actions, I presume. So, by that logic, if a teenager gets drunk and kills someone in a car crash, we shouldn't hold him or her responsible either, because they were only "in need of rush and excitement" and too immature to know what they were doing because their poor little brains weren't fully developed yet.

What a PATHETIC rationalization!

I agree bev, that was pathetic! Teenagers brains could use some challenge to excite them like sports, learning and helping others. Maybe if more parents taught their children respect, honesty, responsiblity, dignity, courage, morals, values, boundaries, humility, manners, faith and caring we wouldn't have so many trying to find fullfillment "elsewhere". Instead parents are making excuses for their children's unacceptable behavior. Maybe if parents, teachers and community leaders would sit children down before they have sex or before they are interested in sex and explain to them what sex is, how it effects them emotionally and physically, how a girl really gets pregnant, how a baby grows in the womb, how you get STD's, what happens to them physically and emotionally when they have an abortion and what happens to the baby, how "boys" are really not "in love" with you if they won't wait for you, how to use birth control and condoms and how to get them, and if they are still ready to have sex then take them to the doctor and let them (her) pick the birth control right for her and make her "boyfriend" come with you to learn how to put on a condom etc, etc,............and if they don't follow these rules or even if they do, they need to know that if they still get pregnant, then that's what happens when they want to have sex. After all that, if they get pg then too bad!!!! They knew the risks of having sex and they chose to take that risk anyway. Stop making excuses for teenagers, they know how they get pregnant. They are NOT as stupid as some of you think they are. And another point, it's not just teenagers getting pg and having abortions, it's irresponsible adults as well. They really know better!

Gee, that's what *my* parents did with me .... but that was back in the old days, way back in the 1970s. These days, it seems, all they do is hand out condoms and hope they fall somewhere in that 85-percent-effective range.

Well lets see they did put money back and did payoff their house, but how much money could my granfather put away when he worked a gov. job that paid him 225.00 twice a monthand then in 1986 he was making 425.00 twice a month? he raised two kids and sent them to college on that salery, then my grandparents had to raise me and send me to college,I help them out as much as i can but the job I had has now been cut to part time, but besides that, who are you to stand in judgment? why do older people get the shaft in this country? oh and by the way their where no 401k plans when he was working, and they where told that social security would be their for them, diff times, I don't understand why people do not take a stand for older people? the where the greatest generation and now most can not even afford to buy their meds due to the high price of them i this country. and the question about keeping his ins? that was not offered to him.
