Everyone I know (Republican, Democrat & Independent) thinks that the anti-Kerry smear campaign on his Vietnam War record began at the White House. Not a person, I know, believes the administration denials.

Does that matter? I think it does!

Here I go again, voicing my opinion. I do think any Vet that wants to bring up anyones record has a right to do so. I also think that that the organization that started all these disputes is doing all it can to get as many people against Kerry as possible. I have heard several Vets say in recent interviews that they only got in this organization after being called and asked to speak against Kerry, and most are pissed about his senate statement and weren't aware of complaints about his service. There were also plenty of vets that do agree with Kerry who were called with requests to join the crusade. So I think with all the calling "asking" people to join, there is alot of stuff being spoon fead to these vets that may have convinced them to join and go along with all that is in dispute. Sure some of thes guys joined on their own and wanted to tell there side, but some are just going along for the ride only after this organization went out of their way to get as many vets as possible to agree with their side.

It is on the record that Kerry also called many of these vets before the story broke begging them to support his side. Is it wrong that Kerry called these vets also? As I see it they had a choice which side they were going to take and they chose to go with the truth.

<<"These groups, who BTW Kerry has spoken out against; do not have direct ties to Kerry. "

Well. How do you know? >>

And how do you know, or know otherwise. This is politics and that gets very dirty at times.

I don't know everything that went on in Kerry's life at the time. I do know he was on another news event after the Senate meeting. He said then that he learned after his actions in Vietnam, that many things that were done regularly in the service were aginst the Geneva Convention, and those regular events put them all in situations which never should have happened.

I don't know how long after that Kerry took to bring it up, but he had already brought it up before those senate meetings, which were not that terribly long after his service.

I was not in vietnam but that information is common knowledge now, and taught in most American history classes, and oozes from many war movies about vietnam. Sure not all of that is completely accurate, but are you going to try to convince me that all these things are wrong? Reality tells me alot of messed up stuff went on over there, alot more then some are willing to realize.

Again this is politics and you won't convince me that both sides aren't trying their best to swing things in their favor. Weather it be Dems, Reps, Kerry, Bush, Moveon.org, swiftboat vets, etc. the point is that any info like this can be twisted anyway that any politition, or organization, wants to twist it. I don't think anyone in this political race is innocent when it comes to trying to swing things their own way. If you think Bush is completely innocent of typical dirty politics, I have to dissagree with your opinion. That is all any of this really is is my opinion, your opinion, everyones opinion. As my mom always sais "Opinions are like a**h***s, and everybodies got one."

This just happens to be mine.

Bottom line if Kerry participated in atrocities he should have reported them immediately, but it wasn't an option at time because he needed to paint himself as a warhero. Only when it was politically expedient did he turn against the vets that he fought with endangering the lives of the men who were still fighting.

I don't give much credence to what is taught by left leaning educational institutions or put forth by the Hollywood elite.

The smear on John Kerry's war record began when John Kerry made his war record in Viet Nam the main issue of his campaign. Being the wife of a retired (34 years) navy Capt. I do know quite a bit about how some people distort their records to make themselves look good. Kerry did just that. Since most people have no idea of what the Viet Nam experience was like they do not understand the volatile emotions involved. This was an unpopular war and our men and women were not treated like the heroes they were but betrayed as baby killers. When Kerry parades around touting his record people who know the truth get angry. The white house is not behind these ads. It is men who served in Viet Nam who are expressing their feelings and yes some who served with Kerry and know that Kerry has always made himself look better than he really is. You don't get a bronze star, a silver medal, or three purple hearts without earning them. A scrape on the arm treated with neosporin does not constitute receiving a reward. This is in the war records as recorded by a navy doctor. The swift boat veterans are trying to get the truth out and the democrats can't stand it. They can have Michael Moore out there making a documentary based on lies but they can't take the truth about their own boy.
