"Just after JOHN KERRY came back from Vietnam, he wrote the book THE NEW SOLDIER.

The book is out of print. John Kerry does not allow the publisher to reprint it.

To make a rational decision on November 2, you need to have all available facts.

You can now read John Kerry's THE NEW SOLDIER online for FREE."

The other vets are angry because he came back and told truths about what was happening in the war and these soldiers felt they were hurt by it and perhaps were. Still, the truth needed to be told by someone who was there.

He told truths, but according to many vets, he embelished greatly on what was happening and turned good people into "baby killers" and such, as well as providing propaganda to the enemy. It wasn't a minor thing at all. You may think it was all long ago and should be put on the back burner, but Kerry felt it was a good part of his resume that he put way out in front, even in front of his Senate record. That is where the responsibility lies in this becoming such a key issue for so many. But I do agree, there is more that needs to be considered than what happened 30 years ago.

As has been stated on this board better than I can say, the atrocities he spoke of were commonplace and were known by the authorities. He spoke up about it and was condemned for it telling a truth that may indeed have hurt other soldiers who were still there. That is very sad and unfortunate but the truth needed to be told. I really can't say what was embellished or not. As I was trying to make the point before, I was not on that battlefield then and neither were most of us. Even those who were saw events in varying ways, as is true of any eye witness account.

"I cannot tell you how much I support those troops, how much I worry about them, how I feel for them and their families and how I wish they were not there in that godforsaken place fighting and dying in a war that has no end."

I am sure that there is no one that wouldn't like this conflict to be over and done with and see all our troops come home. The scary thing is though, that even if this comes to the best ending ever, there are those just waiting and willing to see to the destruction of the US and are will to take up arms, or whatever terrorist weapon they can come up with, against us. I am not convinced that Iraq is going to have the biggest impact on defeating terrorism, or at least containing it. But I am also not an expert on this topic at all. There are plenty of folks here that have a bunch of knowledge on the M.E.

Well, we can agree on that at least. The fight against terrorism has not even begun with Iraq since they had nothing to do with the attack on us. The fight against terrorism will continue so long as there are terrorists out there that hate us and with this war there are now many many more who hate us more than ever.

Like many other Vietnam vets who whom Kerrry indiscriminantly smeared, General Franks puts the blame for attrocities on a lack of leadership of many young officers like Kerry who tolerated, accepted, or encouraged the commission of war crimes.
