Religious John Kerry?

Think about it! Kerry gave a big speech last week about how his faith is so "important" to him. In this attempt to convince the American people that we should consider him for President, he announced that his favorite Bible verse is John 16:3.

Of course the speech writer meant John 3:16, but nobody in the Kerry camp was familiar enough with scripture to catch the error. And do you know what John 16:3 says?

John 16:3 says; "They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me."

So is this what you teach in your church? How to insult the faith of another person, true christian love & mercy? Did you know that after meeting Teresa Heinz, one of the first dates thay had was attending Sunday Mass? Did you know she found him attractive because he sang the hymns? Did you know he sang the hymns in portugese, because they were visiting Brazil for an Earth Summit? Seems to me this indicates faith and environmental concern (or love of the great gift from God, earth) all in one episode. I hope I don't encounter any christians so mean spirited as you seem to be.

By all means, lets pass on the encouragement to vote. Lets pass on passing on the hate.

"Their first meeting was a quick hello on the Capitol steps, where Jack Heinz himself introduced them. Several years later, after she had been widowed (and he was dating women like Morgan Fairchild) they met again in Rio, where the first President Bush had sent her for the Earth Summit. They laugh uproariously as they recount their first, raucous dinner there, over who knows how many caipirinhas, she says, with New Jersey Sen. Frank Lautenberg along as unwitting chaperone. (Lautenberg says he doesn't remember the meal as all that amusing, but of course, watching other people discover they have so much in common is not everybody's idea of a great night.) During dinner, Mrs. Heinz muttered "Pas possible!" under her breath, and was kind of impressed when Kerry answered her in French. Later, he asked if he might accompany her to mass the next morning, and then surprised her by singing along with the hymns in Portuguese. But when jokingly asked if he regularly attends mass or just wanted to see Mrs. Heinz --again, Kerry stops laughing and seems truly offended: "I was an altar boy, and there was a point in my life when I thought I might even be--I was very serious."

Hi Donna:

Yes, I notice and am amused by those very same things. Maybe that is Bush's plan...we will become one big police state, we will all work for the government, and no longer have to worry about a manufacturing base or jobs going overseas.

Just an observation, not an insult or personal attack, but for a CL you seem to be very high strung and touchy on this board...we are all under a lot of stress, this is a hotly debated subject area, and that means our CL's need to be cool, calm and collected, not people that see attack and slights at every turn.
