From a 25 yr old Englishwoman

I read your post (or should I say article!) on Bush's half-truths and non-truths, it was very interesting. A couple of thoughts:

How can you have a war on terror? It's not a country. It's not a race, nor a gender. It's a feeling!!! 9/11 was horribly wrong, but it was far from unprecedented. Here in the UK, we've been dealing with terrorism for a very long time, specifically from the IRA and other groups like it. But we didn't go and bomb the sh*t out of Australia because they had tenuous links to Ireland! This is not to say that we should be lenient on terrorists. But the vast majority of Iraqis who are now dead were not terrorists. If the minds behind 9/11 could be found, I'd gleefully pull the trigger myself, but why are we killing people with no connection whatsoever to that atrocity?

The idea of Bush and Blair sitting together praying gives me shivers. Separation of Church and State, people! Isn't that what your Constitution says?

Both of them have been proved to be liars, and to have taken our countries and our young men and women into war on completely fabricated grounds. I confess, I'm glad the Taliban are no longer in power in Afghanistan, but it's the height of idiocy to believe that we went into Iraq for any other primary reason than OIL!

Did not say you were a Nader supporter, said your apparent, which qualifies, asks the question.

I am not at all happy about our nation's two party system, it does not give voice to some many of us, as the theory that we can all fit under one or the other of the two choices is just not true. One thing I like about Israel, is the fact that they have all kinds of parties, and to form a majority, the major parties routinely have to negotiate with and find compromise with some of these smaller parties to get the votes they need....which creates a situation where at least sometimes, the lessor heard voices do get heard, and their wishes on some level to get some attention.

Unfortunately, right now we have to deal with the reality as it exists today, because we cannot change it between now and November, and that reality sadly is, "That any vote cast for anyone other than Kerry amounts to a vote cast for George Bush." It may not be fair, it may not be right, but it is the very real reality in this election year.

As you know, you are preaching to the choir on this. Here though is the real rub in all this where Bush is concerned.

He steadfastly refuses to give a damn about what the UN feels, and does what he wants to on the war front. Yet, in regards to economic issues, he allows the World Court to routinely take away America's right to control its own trade policies. Latest example being told by said world body that we cannot impose tariffs on certain countries who are DUMPING over stock goods into our markets at give-away prices, as our tariffs/fines are unfair to the dumpers as it then keeps the prices on their goods in line with everyone else...HUH? Bush if fine with this, but will take on the whole world when it comes to his wants in fighting wars.
