If we could put the personal attacks on

hold just long enough for me to review the conversations and remove the posts that need to be removed I'd appreciate it. I know this topic is hot but perhaps for at least one 24 hour period - during which I'll put every other responsibility on hold to sift through and remove the slanderous attacks and send out explanations to each offender, we could be courteous in posting? It's possible to diagree without attacking each other. If this is not possible or not ok - then closing the threads to new posts is also an option.

Dear PAt:

I hear what you are saying...however, I would caution, that one person's percieved attack is not actually an attack, does not rise to the level of being an infraction of the Ivillage code of conduct. I bring this up, as sometimes think certain people with bold thoughts are unfairly silenced because someone with hurt feelings crys foul, runs to administration an complains. I for instance have been attacked in at least one thread by one specific member...there is no doubt what-so-ever that her post was attacking and over the line. But, as you say, this is a heated topic, and a divided nation we are living in right now, so instead of filing a complaint, I ignored the barbs and tried to deal with and look for substance in her posts.

Further more, one persons tongue-in-cheek spoofs of another party, or a particular group might be taken offensively by someone not in the mood or incapable of seeing the humor intended. Case in point for instance could be the take off on the Beverly Hillbillies rendition of Bush.

Just my two cents worth in hoping to see that people and their posts are not unfairly deleted and removed, as over all think there has been a lot of good civil discourse taking place on this board in the last couple of days. What worries me, is that a board that according to one of the CL's is fairly Republican leaning is getting hurt feelings because suddenly a contingent of Democrats are on the board and making our voices heard.

Attempting to silence the voices of those you do not agree with is not what America stands for.

Personally, my feleings don't get hurt by strangers on message boards, but just FYI name calling is a violation of TOS. Even more than that, it's rather juvenile and doesn't do anything to advance the discussion, IMO.

Curious...as one example, do you consider Repukes calling someone a name, or accept it for what it is? Like it or not, said term has become a commonly used word on numerous political boards scattered across the Internet, just as the phrase dumbocrats has.

Dear iv_mysticdreamder, I appreciate your comments and I understand what you're saying. I agree that the 'report violation' link is used quickly in many cases and when the url is received by me it is flagged as a 'possible violation' and is then subject for review. It would be foolish of me to delete posts

Dear Pat:

First, thank you for your well thought out and reasoned response to my inquiry in regards to this matter. Obviously in the last few days as one of the more vocal and visible voices of opposition to the Republican point of view, I have a certain vested interest in your decisions, and I think rightfully so feel that some here have made myself and others the target of what we percieve as a Witchhunt bent at weeding out undesirable Democratic viewpoints on what, as I pointed out earlier, one CL actually stated was a overwhelming pro Republican board.

As for the task of having to wade through some of these voluminous and overwhelming threads (as you pointed out, over 500 in just the one), I do not envy you, and feel your request for 24 hours to evaluate the situation is more than fair. Further, am pleased to hear that you evaluate the thread in its totalness, rather than segregating out a post reported for possible violation, as sometimes think such segregation of just one posts out of context if you will fails to show truly what was and is occurring, so that what might appear to be wrong on some level if far more justifiable based upon the various posts the preceeded it.

Do have a nice day, and wish you luck in your difficult task.

I consider both terms name calling, childish, and non-productive. I don't assume people are dumb just because they disagree with my politcal beliefs. That would be a very narrow minded viewpoint indeed. As for the term Repukes, I'm not even sure what that's supposed to mean. To me it's no different than my four year old calling someone a poopyhead. But that's just my honest opinion.

Well, perhaps people are using the current political campaign as a good example of how to behave and respond to others when they disagree with you.
