hold just long enough for me to review the conversations and remove the posts that need to be removed I'd appreciate it. I know this topic is hot but perhaps for at least one 24 hour period - during which I'll put every other responsibility on hold to sift through and remove the slanderous attacks and send out explanations to each offender, we could be courteous in posting? It's possible to diagree without attacking each other. If this is not possible or not ok - then closing the threads to new posts is also an option.

But she's not saying that she's attempting to silence the voices of anyone - nor am I. Removing violating posts

Good point :) Maybe so. If a person can debate civilly about an issue as great as this one they will probably find that they can debate almost anything.

Oh, I agree with what you have said, but to often as I pointed out in an earlier post, one persons opinion or spoof becomes another persons attack, or at least an excuse to claim it as so to have them and their account banished. My belief in this regard is very much strengthened based upon a STERN WARNING I have recieved via email for a spoof I put onto the board in regards to one posters announcement of voting for the first time. I read that post very carefully, then compared it to serveral nasty visceral posts I have recieved in the past 48 hours, and there is no comparison...suppose, that the difference is that I do not as a rule report offensive posts, as it is much easier to ignore them and move on.

I can understand removing posts and warning members for out right hostility towards other members, the use of vulgarity, but we are also supposed to be adults here, and by giving out warnings to someone just because someone has sensitive skin is no way to run a rail road, and harkens back to kindergarden. For my money, think iVillage needs to be a little less quick on deciding what is constituted as a personal attack....especially since as I pointed out, it becomes a subjective manner. Further, here as in every walk of life, sometimes there are associations and friendships that further contribute to deciding who does or does not get bannished, what is or is not deemed to be a violation. Going even further, I know of specific instances when members of a particular board have lost their accounts not because they violated any specific rules, but because their presense made the group uncomfortable.

So, in conclusion, though you may not be deliberately attempting to silence voices, it does unfortunately happen, and there are people on this board who know HOW TO USE THE SYSTEM in a conieving and dispicable fashion to get rid of people they have decided they do not like.
