Was with a bit of amusement that I saw the Republicans in here has a thread that we are supposed to stay out of (see Republican Treehouse)....guess they feel a need to have secret meetings, and might even have a secret handshake to get through the door, so thought those of us on the side of reason and intellect should have our own little hide-away as it were. So, kick your shoes off, pour yourself a drink and lets discuss the issues.

I just wanted to say 'hi' and feel like this is the place for me. I don't often come to these ivillage boards, tend to stick to the parenting boards, but I sure get lonely being one of few dems over there. And no one ever even wants to talk about stuff. They all get riled up too quickly.

So instead I'll just lurk around here, and offer a word or two when what I want to say hasn't already been said :)

good for you! look forward to hearing how that goes!

the repukes are furthering their efforts to alienate other countries. the speeches tonight exemplified the definition of "ugly american." i think their negativity is going to bite them in the butt. i think all these nasty remarks are going to light a fire under the democratic party.

i wish bush accepted kerry's offer to weekly debates. of course bush wouldn't accept since he'd fumble horribly.

kerry/edwards *JUST* have to be charming enough to capture the votes of americans that don't follow issues as well as command respect, clearly communicate an intelligent agenda, and convince us that security, health care, education and the economy will be BETTER when they are in office.

i'm fired up to do my part because i can't stomach another 4 years with the "bushies!" (ugh!)

Hi Donna:

What I am concerned about, is somehow Bush getting hold of the questions before the debates so that his handlers can properly train him...monkeys with enough time can fool you into thinking they have more skills then they truly possess.

On another more serious note, would encourage you to look at my latest thread on the board entitled I believe Republican Party Bigoted? Yes, inflammatory title, but I am livid here...not at all a fan of Cheney, but feel for the man this evening. Cannot bring myself to write it all down again here, so shall simply say certain behaviors are just not acceptable even in the heat of a hotly contested election.

Hi There CotMemo!

Welcome to our little hide-away. Trust me, this thread seems fairly safe, but the board itself is full of some very hot debate and we appear to be out numbered by the Republicans on the main board.

Feel free to contribute or ask a question any time the mood moves you, and welcome to our little enclave, we are glad to have you.

Hi Meels:

First, I agree with you....three days into a four day convention and all we have heard is smear and fear, with NO MENTION of substance on the other REAL ISSUES of this campaign, such as the Economy, Health Care, Job Creation and Bush lack of doing so and the laundry list goes on.

If you have read my new thread on Rebublican the Bigoted party, I feel the Rebulican delegates stepped way over the line tonight. Furthermore, a bit worried about what fallout might occur from it here in New York tomorrow on the last day of the convention, as it is possibly one of the most perverse and sick things I have ever seen in any politcal race in my 49 years.

Going to be interesting when it is over and done with to see how the public as a whole reacted when the polls start coming out.

My biggest issue is why do they even bother to talk about what they can do? Why the heck haven't they done it already? They being BushCo and already being in the last 4 years. I know I fit the stereotypical tree hugger, hey I'm even in Oregon, but the bs spewing forth from the RNC is just outragous. And people believe it. Even in Oregon LOL. I think 5? times while I was at the state fair earlier this week, carrying around my Kerry Edwards yard sign on my stroller, I had people make negitive comments. And 3 of them were my age or younger-I'm 23 BTW. It's just crazy. How can someone make an informed decision and vote for Bush?

On a side note did anyone watch Last Comic standing last night? One of the comics spent the whole time ripping on Bush and it was pretty funny.

I haven't read through alot of threads here yet, it took me a good 4 hours to read through that 700+ one last night and tonight. So I don't know if anyone else listens to Air America. I spend way too much time doing so, then double checking as much of the info that I can. I hate it when people believe something just because 'they saw it on the internet/TV/heard it on the radio' So even though I believe it, I don't want to pass around faulty info.

sorry my post is allover the place, sometimes I just gotta get it out, can you tell I haven't had an adult converstation yet today??

I think a weekly debate would have been great! But I agree with you about Bush. He would have had to have his thoughts down and memorized like he does speeches. Heh. XOXO.

I have caught a bit of the Rep convention and watched some of it tonight. I even watched Sara Evans sing and her praising Bush saying "George W is going to fly!" Heh. Anyways, the parts of the conevention I have caught all they have been talking about is what Bush is doing for safety and the 9/11 war and him being a Christian man. I want to know about what he's going to do about jobs, the environment, abortion, schools and education, what he thinks about gay marriages. One man was up talking (He was a Dem from Georgia) saying how he was glad Bush was the same man on a Sat afternoon as he was Sun going to church. I thought the two were supposed to be seperate! (The Church and State) I think Bush has forgotten not everybody here is under Christanity. There are wiccans, pagans, Muslims, Buddist's, etc. here too! I can't wait till this whole convention is over and we can get to the debate! That should be really interesting and I hope people do watch it. I know I'll be watching the whole thing! XOXO.
