Was with a bit of amusement that I saw the Republicans in here has a thread that we are supposed to stay out of (see Republican Treehouse)....guess they feel a need to have secret meetings, and might even have a secret handshake to get through the door, so thought those of us on the side of reason and intellect should have our own little hide-away as it were. So, kick your shoes off, pour yourself a drink and lets discuss the issues.

>>Maybe he's keeping his big guns under his hat for the debates (please please please). If he made his arguments now it would give Bush's handlers a chance to come back with a counter argument...do some research and find some malcontents willing to come out and exagarrate the truth or downright lie, and dig up more dirt to fling. <<<

I think about hte same thing.. There was this lady on this board Rayleen or something like that who use to say that Kerry is known for turning around the campaign in the last couple of months. She was from Massachusets(spell?)I also feel he may kept some of the plans under cover just to spring them at the last moments. I don't doubt a bit that if he said everything out earlier Bush and the gang will twist and turn each idea out and soak it in slime. I am keeping my fingers crossed hope that debates with lift Kerry up, up and land him in the white house.

Actually republicans with point out that he can either be dumb or be smart and cunning, but I think is average or below av. intelligence but very cunning and mean minded, selfish person. Like some one who thinks very narrowly and cannot think of the greater good. He is not well read well educated person, so he gets by with lies and deceit. I know some people like that in personal life, who are not bright but can be very selfish at the same time.

Only thing was Bush was not that responsible, and even now he just pretends to be a responsible adult.

Hi Sue:

Wish I had a specific link to send you to, but do not...good, bad or ugly, I watch far to much News, read far too much news on the Internet, and consume far too much News through the printed media with subscriptions to the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Time, Newsweek and USA Today just to name a few. My wife loves trivia, but I am not fond of the game so never play it, but drive her and her friends crazy because I will be walking by when they are stumped on some obsolete little known question and invaribly will rattle off the answer without a thought...I have way to much stuff inside my head here.

You are right in thinking Kerry's strongest point is also his weakest in this sound byte 30 seconds or less world we live in today. People are not going to take the time to dig for the truth, people are not going to take the time to understand the riddle which puts a man of nuance at a very distinct disadvantage....especially against someone like Bush who though is very low on substance, very adept at the 30 second sound bite canned deliveries that the masses seem to love, followed by that conspiratorial wink as if to suggest only him and the person hearing the message got it when it fact it was ever so transparent.

I and my husband always talked about Kerry changing his campaign advisors. I particularly didn't think much of Tad Devine. He really didn't do a good job on Paula zahn's village meeting or whatever that was called. I sent an email to Kerry's website regarding that and now they are pallning to change campaign adivsors( atleast it is rumored). But I seriosly hope they do. Nothing personal against Tad but he was just not aggressive enough.

Unfortunately, the print media does not hold the sway it used to among the masses, and right now, the Television and Radio distribution points are very much swayed towards and in support of Bush...which means, he is given far more chances to explain himself and get out of the briars then we can hope for.

Another good thing about the debates is that BOTH Republicans AND Democrats will be listening to them. Perhaps Kerry will be able to address some of the half truths said about him there and score points. I feel that even though he has explained himself in the media, many people aren't paying attention choosing instead, to get their news synopsized in soundbites by the pundits.

I agree with you...and you are right, he is not overly educated. I have a problem with our president admitting freely that he does not do much reading. Presidents sign a WHOLE LOT OF THINGS (laws, treaties, orders), and knowing he freely admits to not doing a lot of reading has to beg the question: So, does this mean that someone in the Whitehouse is telling him what it is that he is signing, and he just takes their word for it?

This got me thinking:

<>

I have always said about Bush that his greatest strength (as perceived by many) is also his greatest weakness too. That is that he sticks to a stance come hell or high water. Some people call it perserverance or determination. However, it can also be stubborness and inflexibility because he obviously sticks to decisions regardles of whether they are right or wrong.
