Dems Open Bar-No Repukes welcome

Was with a bit of amusement that I saw the Republicans in here has a thread that we are supposed to stay out of (see Republican Treehouse)....guess they feel a need to have secret meetings, and might even have a secret handshake to get through the door, so thought those of us on the side of reason and intellect should have our own little hide-away as it were. So, kick your shoes off, pour yourself a drink and lets discuss the issues.

I am originally from India, and I have observed that US foreign policy is pretty much same for certain countries whether a Republican is in power or a democrat. Its policy to support Pakistan more than India has not changed, it policy to support Israel against Palestine has not changed and it policy against Iraq is also pretty much consistent even since Bush Sr. So whether it is democrat or republican, Iraq is the enemy and Saddam had to go out. But the main problem is how Bush tried to eliminate him is in question. I actually admire Kerry that he admitted that he wouldn't change his vote to influence the election. I think he had guts to stand up for the truth and I am sure he knew he would get hammered by republicans and democrats for that answer. But this just shows he knows certain things about American foreign policy and he admitted the truth.
This is just my take on this. My husband was pretty angry at him for saying that he would have still voted for him but I said, that make him earn my respect and after I explained him he said "yeah, you seem to be right".
this swift vet argument is just distracting americans from important issues:
1) bush sent us to war without good justification. no wmds found yet. bush flip-flopped justifying the war to find wmds. then when they were nowhere to be found he said he went there for humanitarian reasons. yet, the efforts to help iraqis is disproportionate to his choice to ignore other less fortunate countries. talk about flip-flopping!
2) education: "no child left behind"? that's been a huge flop. talk to teachers who are subjected to the requirements of this system which is actually leaving MORE kids behind. instead they've been fudging with the numbers to make it LOOK like bush's plan is working. and, they are not supporting head start. on and on.
3) economy: again, fudging with the numbers. we have higher unemployment numbers losing increasing jobs to foreigners.
4) security: i somewhat agree with mystic's analogy to bush's inability to secure the RNC. but, moreso i think the number of protesters exemplifies how bush has made us LESS SAFE because so many people hate americans now! every time i travel another country i hear and see first-hand anti-american sentiment. and they all think bush is an idiot. i hope i don't have to apologize for our government for another 4 years!
5) more of the same: my opinion but the "pubbies" are still a bunch of good 'ol boys. they're talking about all the generations of bushes but that just wreaks of nepotism. i listened to the bush twins talk and some are defending them because they're just kids. 22 years old and yale and univ. of texas grads and they're still kids? just like they're dad, they went to college but it didn't mean much. they had connections so that's why they're where they're at. not because of hard work, intelligence, work ethic, or experience. it's being fed by a silver spoon and in turn everything they touch is tarnished.
okay, i know this is supposed to be the dems open bar but i'm sure the repukes will have something to say since they can't respect the initial purpose of this board.
kerry/edwards!!
