ALL BUSH SUPPORTERS READ THIS

I blagged this from a War On Terror Ivillage board:

'In his memoirs, "A World Transformed," written five years ago, George Bush Sr. wrote the following to explain why he didn't go after Saddam Hussein at the end of the Gulf War.

"Trying to eliminate Saddam...would have incurred incalculable human

and political costs. Apprehending him was probably impossible.... We

would have been forced to occupy Baghdad and, in effect, rule Iraq....

There was no viable "exit strategy" we could see, violating another of

our principles. Furthermore, we had been consciously trying to set a

pattern for handling aggression in the post-Cold War world. Going in

and occupying Iraq, thus unilaterally exceeding the United Nations'

mandate, would have destroyed the precedent of international response

to aggression that we hoped to establish. Had we gone the invasion

route, the United States could conceivably still be an occupying power

in a bitterly hostile land."

If only his son could read.'

I have seen this quote too and it is telling isn't it? "If only his son could read" and I might ad, think.

Bush read....he readily admits that he does not, and meanwhile, oppression of our thoughts and words continues on.

I had also posted this before but didn't get much response from reps. Btw, this is going to be my last day on ivillage because I feel ivillage is not fair. they are removing the threads I start to bring to everyone's notice how they were doing injustice to mystic dreamer. It seem CL renee is the one who have filed coomplains against him when in fact I have seen pretty strong posts from her as well. I think both of them like heated debates and I enjoy their debating skills but it is unfair to mystic dreamer and we should do something about it.

Palak, dont leave. Dont leave over something like this, because you have a good voice that needs to be spoken. Temperatures are just heated at this moment, just step back for a bit and relax. But please I do not wish to see you or anyone else leave. :-) Just think about it.

Thanks, I will think, but I am not sure why I feel very wrong about all this. I like to read Renee's posts and I like to read mysticdreamer's post. Both are strong, and I didn't read anyof his posts attacking someone. Maybe I missed them since there are so many posts on this board. As I said I will think about it. But good luck to you and I will treasure my my time here on this boards. I found a lot of good information thanks to republicans and democrats and independents and I aprreciate it very much.

Palak, in walking away, does not one give the oppressors of the world a victory won without a fight? My suggestion...stay, continue to participate, give voice to your views, and in that you do honor to those fallen comrades who gave their screen names so that you might have yours....just a thought.

Palak, echoing Sondra, I too, hope you will not be leaving. You're posts are a valuable addition to the discussion around here.

I must say that I have been saddened to read your comments about me this morning. You have known me (in the IVillage sense) for quite a while now. I have

Paraphrasing here, and not even sure if my faulty aged memory is serving me correctly in attributing a source, but think it was Nathan Hale once who said something to the effect that "those freedoms we most quickly lose are those we give up willingly, and without a fight."

Perhaps the most startling example of this truth is to study the Holocaust...for far to long the Jews believed that they would see change, that someone would come to their senses if they appeased their oppressors by going along with them as it were. We all know the tragic results of that hope they held so near and dear to their hearts. By the time of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising, in many ways it was already far to late, and the dark stain on the fabric of world society should hopefully always serve as a reminder to all that we must always be willing to stand up for what we know and feel to be right, and that we cannot afford as a society to allow wrongs to go unchallenged, for in doing so we give the voices of tyranny their power and control.

I do see your point, but maybe it is my old age that makes me want to fight less! Something else my mother told me, You get more flys with honey....However to those of you are able to do the good fight, more power to you!!! I and many others thank you for your effort and we will forever memorialize your past id's!!
