A CNN report on the anti-GOP protests contains this gem:

At least 5,000 protesters stood on sidewalks Wednesday morning in a 3-mile line, waving pinks slips to highlight their dissatisfaction with the economy. The demonstration, which stretched from Wall Street to Madison Square Garden, formed a symbolic unemployment line for about 15 minutes to draw attention to the 8.2 million Americans unemployed as of July.

A "symbolic unemployment line"--you've got to love it. As we noted Tuesday, if these people actually were to look for work, the unemployment rate would rise, presumably hurting President Bush's re-election prospects. Bush is lucky his opponents are so lazy.

I must say, I love how you quote somehting called "OPINIONjournal" as if it has an ounce of merit. I visited the site, and read all I read was a boatload of justifications for people's actions, reports that may very well be made up, and if not, very one sided. It is a real laugh. I will quote here:

"But the audience--consisting of people who are strongly committed to defeating John Kerry--applauded Kerry's service. That's because Republicans genuinely revere military service, in contrast with Democrats, who see it as (to borrow a phrase from the late Pat Moynihan) boob bait for bubbas,"

WOW that is a sweeping generalization. I happen to know republicans who hate the military, and yes they may be rare, but his persons statements would have people believing that all Republicans are on the same page on this issue. It is quite funny in fact, I know loads of democrats who have served in the military and have a lot of respect for the the military and think it is a good and valid career choice. Also, did he poll the audience to find out why each person was applauding? maybe somebody dropped a tray of dishes at the same time and the author of this piece was blinking or harvesting the crust from his eye. You never know.

I am making a point that you need to be able to trust a source as valid, and this one... simply is not.

I could go on all day but I won't. Much to your chagrin, I am certian.

"John 'Effin' Kerry"

you know what? I find that vulgar, and you have done it before I think it is wildly inapporopriate.

I agree wholeheartedly. besides, you get a pop up asking you if you want to be a moderator or volunteer after you post so many messages and have not been warned. At least I did. I assume I am not special. I assume that I am worth being respected as much as our moderators as well.

Sorry i meant cl, not moderator, and it is not necessarily for this board either.

so, what you are saying is that it is alright to voice your opinions on what people are doing... even if you are resorting to name calling, and vulgar talk... Ok. fair enough, you have that right. AND SO DO THE PEOPLE WHO PROTESTED! But they are not sinking so low as to call you a monkey. So quick you are to condemn protests when you are doing your own miniature version of the same. LOL.

Maybe people are bothered by it because you are so angry and insulting those for doing just that, yet you demand respect for doing it yourself......

from post #1

Bush is lucky his opponents are so lazy.

from post #31

I did not refer to the unemployed as lazy.

So maybe you didn't mean the unemployed are lazy, maybe you mean ALL PEOPLE opposed to Bush are lazy. I see, OK. You actually meant to insult an even larger group of people. If that sentence wasn't yours BTW, you should have put it in quotes. Without the quotes, you are simply saying it yourself.

Nitey nite.

You know it is hard to respect a person who has no respect for others opinions, beliefs, religion, or political party.

I work full time, run a household, & care for a disabled child. Yet I found time to attend about 50 protests in the last 2 years, often riding a bus all night to get there, being on my feet all day upon arrival, riding the bus all night to get home, & going in to work the next day. You have no basis whatever for these assumptions, and you are displaying an amazing hateful prejudice.

< Those protesters were not unemployed in the 'lost my job & am looking for a new one' sense. They are unemployed in the 'Democrat Protester' sense. You know, the ones who are perpetual students or who don't have time to work becuase they volunteer for 20 different organizations and spend all their time protesting something or other, and even if they could squeeze work into their schedule, their not about to because then they would be supporting the oppressive captialistic system. >

OH... so you KNOW these protesters? How do you come to this conclusion? I would like to know that, and if you are posting someone elses comments, and are in support of them, which you did, and said you were, then you need to specify, otherwise you are in support of all the statements that person makes.

Keep trying.
