New York: For the first time since the Presidential race became a two person contest last spring, there is a clear leader, the latest TIME poll shows. If the 2004 election for President were held today, 52% of likely voters surveyed would vote for President George W. Bush, 41% would vote for Democratic nominee John Kerry, and 3% would vote for Ralph Nader, according to a new TIME poll conducted from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2. Poll results are available on TIME.com and will appear in the upcoming issue of TIME magazine, on newsstands Monday, Sept. 6.

Just because Bush deserted certainly doesn't mean all people who served in the National Guard deserted.
Just because Bush took flight lessons and bailed out of his duty doesn't mean all National Guard people did this.
Just because you think all National Guard people acted as Bush did, doesn't mean it's true.

John Forbes Kerry has made his 4 months 12 days in Vietnam the central emphasis in his campaign. This is the reason he thinks people should vote for him, in fact it is the only reason he has given. That is why his war record from 35 years ago is being explored seriously by voters and President Bush's isn't.
It's no doubt that vets from every war are supporting Bush against Kerry. He brought disgrace & dishonor to those who were serving in Vietnam and now he's done the same, to a lesser degree,

<<What a condescending idiot.>>
LOL! You can say that again. Clinton spends an hour and half on the telephone with Kerry telling him to drop Vietnam, & he goes out the next day and talks about...
Vietnam

On December 11, 1968, John Kerry wrote in his journal:
"They pulled away from the pier at Cat Lo with spirits high, feeling satisfied with the way things were going for them. They had no lust for battle, but they also were were not afraid. A cocky feeling of invincibility accompanied us up the Long Tau shipping channel because we hadn't been shot at yet, and Americans at war who haven't been shot at are allowed to be cocky."
From your source:
December 2, 1968: Kerry experiences first intense combat; receives first combat related injury.

Kerry lied in his self-reported first purple heart. He lied in order to tally 3 purple hearts to get out early. His tour with Jan Fonda caused grief and suffering to his imprisoned comrades and gave support to this country's enemies.
Kerry is a liar, deserter, and a traitor.
This is what I believe based on the evidence that the people who were there supplied, that he lied about enemy fire in order to get three purple hearts and get out of there as fast as he could.
That is what is ridiculous and mean spirited on your part. And no comments about defending Bush who was mostly absent during his Natl Guard service, a man who never got close to war. figures.
