New York: For the first time since the Presidential race became a two person contest last spring, there is a clear leader, the latest TIME poll shows. If the 2004 election for President were held today, 52% of likely voters surveyed would vote for President George W. Bush, 41% would vote for Democratic nominee John Kerry, and 3% would vote for Ralph Nader, according to a new TIME poll conducted from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2. Poll results are available on TIME.com and will appear in the upcoming issue of TIME magazine, on newsstands Monday, Sept. 6.

Apparently the voters care.

On December 11, 1968, John Kerry wrote in his journal:
"They pulled away from the pier at Cat Lo with spirits high, feeling satisfied with the way things were going for them. They had no lust for battle, but they also were were not afraid. A cocky feeling of invincibility accompanied us up the Long Tau shipping channel because we hadn't been shot at yet, and Americans at war who haven't been shot at are allowed to be cocky."

Please explain to me how this means someone is a traitor and a deserter. Unless you have been on a battlefield maybe you should shut up. You have no idea when this particular event happened in relation to the whole story. You calling a man who served honorably in Viet Nam and won medals risking his life and saving others is just so disgusting I don't even want to talk to you anymore. I just want to throw up on you when I hear this drivel. You should be ashamed.

A requirement for a Purple Heart is enemy fire. By his own writings he admits that he didn't receive enemy fire until after December 11. He received his first phoney Purple Heart for an "injury" incurred on December 2.

Thanks for making my post more clear.

Yes, this is what made Kerry a liar and deserter. The Jane Fonda tour at the expense of our POW's made him a traitor.

Kerry is the one making the issue over his service, and his commendations....don't ya think?

It calls into question his credibility when his own stories on the topics keep changing....don't ya think?

Our history is full of instances where veterans service was questioned, investigated, & judged by our citizens.

We have a citizen-controlled army, and our citizens have every right that our veterans do, including questioning their actions & their judgement.

You are right.

The Kerry campaign and Kerry himself are the only ones who have been caught in lies, and have had to change their stories thus far.

Blundering the English language is one thing, lying about ones history is totally different.

Kerry has been caught in three or four lies about his service and his history that he has been forced to backtrack on.

This is the fact of the matter, and one reason why I could never vote for Kerry.
