New York: For the first time since the Presidential race became a two person contest last spring, there is a clear leader, the latest TIME poll shows. If the 2004 election for President were held today, 52% of likely voters surveyed would vote for President George W. Bush, 41% would vote for Democratic nominee John Kerry, and 3% would vote for Ralph Nader, according to a new TIME poll conducted from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2. Poll results are available on TIME.com and will appear in the upcoming issue of TIME magazine, on newsstands Monday, Sept. 6.

>> Kerry was only in *Vietnam* for 4 months. <<

On his second tour.

He served A full tour prior to that

>> He wrote himself up for three purple hearts <<

Are you able to back up this claim?

>>(the loophole- at least one was admittedly undeserved)<<

Are you able to back up this claim?

If not, I will consider it a retraction on your part.

Have a nice day.

He citicized 1 ad which he thought was unwarrented. He has said that he doesn't have a problem with the others. (I think they're up to number 4 now, aren't they).

Are you able to furnish sources?

My understanding is that Bush was asked by McCain to condemn the entire campaign, not one particular ad.

I have no idea how many ads this discredited group have produced.

His first tour of duty was not in Vietnam. He was only in *Vietnam* for four months.

Go to this site: www.swiftvets.com it's very well documented how he wrote up the after action reports himself, was denied his first purple heart based on no enemy fire and a very minor self inflicted injury, and waited until the officer that denied it left, then wrote it up again.

His campaign has admitted it, based on the fact that Kerry wrote in his *own diary* that he had not yet received any enemy fire on a date *after* the purple heart injury.

I've heard McCain myself say that anything that Kerry did after the war was fair game. It was only the medals ad that McCain objected to.

I'll need a more credible source than the swiftvet.

Bush himself says Kerry served honourably.

Do you have a credible source i.e.

one that hasn't been tied to the Replublican party?

These are 250 credible, decorated veterans who come from all walks of life and from all political parties. Some of the Democrats in this group actually supported him for his race for the Senate in 1996 against claims of war crimes (since they knew he didn't really commit any war crimes). The job of Commander in Chief is much more important than that of senator from Mass. Because of this these Democrats have also joined this organization to oppose him for that important job. They document everything. Their story remains constant, yet Kerry's story keeps changing to reconcile with the emerging facts. How much more credible can they get? It seems self-serving to me to write these veterans intricately detailed work off as lies and accept what Kerry and one other says as truth.

They've been tied to the Republican party.

That dilutes their message for me.
