Kerry Caught In Lie About V.P. Cheney

Well I watched V. P. Cheney's speech and I did not recall him saying that John Forbes Kerry was "unfit for command". So I went to a transcript of the speech and found that he didn't say anything of the sort! They just made it up so they could lead into the slam they had planned for Cheney, lol.
Here is everything that Cheney said about Kerry:
"And so it is time to set the alternatives squarely before the American people.
The President's opponent is an experienced senator. He speaks often of his service in Vietnam, and we honor him for it. But there is also a record of more than three decades since. And on the question of America's role in the world, the differences between Senator Kerry and President Bush are the sharpest, and the stakes for the country are the highest. History has shown that a strong and purposeful America is vital to preserving freedom and keeping us safe — yet time and again Senator Kerry has made the wrong call on national security. Senator Kerry began his political career by saying he would like to see our troops deployed "only at the directive of the United Nations." During the 1980s, Senator Kerry opposed Ronald Reagan's major defense initiatives that brought victory in the Cold War. In 1991, when Saddam Hussein occupied Kuwait and stood poised to dominate the Persian Gulf, Senator Kerry voted against Operation Desert Storm.
Even in this post-9/11 period, Senator Kerry doesn't appear to understand how the world has changed. He talks about leading a "more sensitive war on terror," as though Al Qaeda will be impressed with our softer side. He declared at the Democratic Convention that he will forcefully defend America — after we have been attacked. My fellow Americans, we have already been attacked, and faced with an enemy who seeks the deadliest of weapons to use against us, we cannot wait for the next attack. We must do everything we can to prevent it — and that includes the use of military force.
Senator Kerry denounces American action when other countries don't approve — as if the whole object of our foreign policy were to please a few persistent critics. In fact, in the global war on terror, as in Afghanistan and Iraq, President Bush has brought many allies to our side. But as the President has made very clear, there is a difference between leading a coalition of many, and submitting to the objections of a few. George W. Bush will never seek a permission slip to defend the American people.
Senator Kerry also takes a different view when it comes to supporting our military. Although he voted to authorize force against Saddam Hussein, he then decided he was opposed to the war, and voted against funding for our men and women in the field. He voted against body armor, ammunition, fuel, spare parts, armored vehicles, extra pay for hardship duty, and support for military families. Senator Kerry is campaigning for the position of commander in chief. Yet he does not seem to understand the first obligation of a commander in chief — and that is to support American troops in combat.
In his years in Washington, John Kerry has been one of a hundred votes in the United States Senate — and very fortunately on matters of national security, his views rarely prevailed. But the presidency is an entirely different proposition. A senator can be wrong for 20 years, without consequence to the nation. But a president — a president — always casts the deciding vote. And in this time of challenge, America needs — and America has — a president we can count on to get it right.
On Iraq, Senator Kerry has disagreed with many of his fellow Democrats. But Senator Kerry's liveliest disagreement is with himself. His back-and- forth reflects a habit of indecision, and sends a message of confusion. And it is all part of a pattern. He has, in the last several years, been for the No Child Left Behind Act — and against it. He has spoken in favor of the North American Free Trade Agreement — and against it. He is for the Patriot Act — and against it. Senator Kerry says he sees two Americas. It makes the whole thing mutual — America sees two John Kerrys."
So, they just made this up that Cheney had said something that he didn't say so that they could lead into the "All this from a man who didn't go to Vietnam, yadda, yadda, yadda as if anybody cared if Cheney ever went to Vietnam. These guys are completely clueless. If they would lie about something so stupid they would lie about anything.

The recounts are all in, folks. Gore lost. Get a clue and a life.
And where was I discourteous? I didn't say that Republican voters ARE dumb. I said that Republican politicians constantly make arguments that only work if those their speaking to don't have all the facts. They're hoping that you're uninformed enough not to catch where they're glossing and manipulating and distorting.
John Kerry never volunteered for service in the NAVY
From page 23, Unfit for Command, Chapter 2:
"John Kerry has often implied that he volunteered for the military right after college. But Kerry petitioned his draft board for a student deferment. At Yale, Kerry's antiwar political views were well known. He was chairman of the Political Union and used his commencement address in 1966 to criticize the foreign policy of President Lyndon Johnson, especially with regard to Vietnam. When he approached his draft board for permission to study for a year in Paris, the draft board refused and Kerry decided to enlist in the Navy. The Navy or the Coast Guard were considered good choices for reluctant young men who figured they were doomed to be drafter. Sailors could get into combat, but the risk of being assigned combat duty was less likely because North Vietnamese and Viet Cong didn't have battleships, submarines, or aircraft carriers.
The top choice was the Navy Reserves where the duty commitment was shorter and a larger proportion of the period could be served stateside on inactive duty.
John Kerry's service record indicates that on February 18, 1966, he enlisted in the United State Naval Reserves, status "inactive," not in the U.S. Navy. These details are conveniently left out of all pro-Kerry biographies. Doublas Brinkley records that Kerry entered Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island; however, again he fails to note that Kerry was seeking to be an officer of the U.S. Naval Reserve.
There are two footnotes concerned with the above passage:
1. Samuel Z. Goldhaber, "John Kerry: A Navy Dove Runs for Congress," Harvard Crimson, February 18, 1970
2. Douglas Brinkley, Tour of Duty: John Kerry and the Vietnam War , 65
You said, "Cheney tried but failed to kill the F14D jet — the one that Miller proudly proclaims "delivered missile strikes against Tora Bora"...
Here are the weapons that Zell Miller exposed Kerry on last night (a direct quote from his speech):
"The B-1 bomber, that Senator Kerry opposed, dropped 40% of the bombs in the first six months of Operation Enduring Freedom.
The B-2 bomber, that Senator Kerry opposed, delivered air strikes against the Taliban in Afghanistan and Hussein's command post in Iraq.
The F-14A Tomcats, that Senator Kerry opposed, shot down Khadifi's Libyan MIGs over the Gulf of Sidra.
The modernized F-14D, that Senator Kerry opposed, delivered missile strikes against Tora Bora.
The Apache helicopter, that Senator Kerry opposed, took out those Republican Guard tanks in Kuwait in the Gulf War.
The F-15 Eagles, that Senator Kerry opposed, flew cover over our Nation's Capital and this very city after 9/11.
I could go on and on and on: Against the Patriot Missile that shot down Saddam Hussein's scud missiles over Israel, Against the Aegis air-defense cruiser, Against the Strategic Defense Initiative, Against the Trident missile, against, against, against. This is the man who wants to be the Commander in Chief of our U.S. Armed Forces? U.S. forces armed with what? Spitballs?"
You see that Zell Miller specifically said the *modernized* F-14D. That's why the columnist didn't quote him exacly. This Berkley liberal thinks *you're* too dumb to look it up for yourself.
He also says that the list was *most likely* taken from a single vote... Zell Miller carries all of his documentation around with him because he knows liberal hacks are going to try to mislead the public. He has said that the ones he mentioned were just a few that Kerry tried to kill. Kerry has over the last 20 years consistantly voted against the military, and Zell shoves the actual documentation in everyone's face that questions him. He has really done his homework.
V.P. Cheney has been loyal to our military throughout his carreer. He did cut some of the military budget after the cold war. Everyone agreed that this was a good idea at that time. That's just smoke and mirrors, however, because Cheney is not running for the position of Commander In Chief. Kerry is.
What part of volunteer don't you understand? If Kerry didn't volunteer, that what exactly do you call Bush's service? Lets see, Bush refused his flight physical, & got out of flying for a significant period of time while in the guard, he somehow was released during wartime 8 months early from his 6 year commitment so he could go to school.
It would be reasonable to pick apart Kerry's service, if you were to do the same with Bush's service. But no, you want to argue Kerry didn't join up voluntarily when it is common knowledge that he did, & the records back this up, while making no observations whatsoever on Bush's service.
Didn't someone offer a cash prize to anyone who could recall seeing Bush perform his service in Alabama & so far no one has taken it?
This Berkley liberal deliberately distored the "fact" that Zell Miller chided Kerry for voting against the F-14 bomber. He purposefully didn't include an exact quote because Miller specifically said that the *modernized* F-14.
Also, I think it's inane for liberals to consistantly compare Kerry to Cheney. Cheney isn't running for Commander-in-Chief. Nobody votes for V.P.
Liberals are forgetting lately that George W. Bush is Kerry's opponent.
