I'm still waiting for you to answer my question from yesterday.

Since you are up to answering questions I've posed to others today, I ask you

If electing Sen. Kerry sends a message of weakness to the terrorists, what message did George Bush send to these terrorists when he admitted on TV he could not win the war on terror?

>> President Bush, who has made fighting terrorism the central theme of his campaign, expressed doubts in a TV interview about winning the struggle.

The remark, at odds with Bush's previous statements, created political sparks Monday.

In the interview, taped Saturday and shown Monday by NBC's Today, Bush was asked if the United States could win the war on terror.

"I don't think you can win it," Bush told co-host Matt Lauer. <<

I read the article you shared and went to another source. Here's what I got out of the interview that Bush had with Matt Lauer.

I understood it to mean that the war on terror canNOT be won in the conventional sense..the terrorists have NO cities, no country, no standing armies, they have cells everywhere in many countries...

And....

In the sense that the war on terror can never be won anymore than the war on crime...

Personally, I am of the opinion that GWB didn't articulate himself well enough. And we're all guilty of that on this forum. I'm sure liberals and terrorists alike will use his quote as a sound bite and try to get as much mileage out of it as possible as well as try to damage GWB.

However, GWB doesn't seem to have suffered much through his 'mispoken-ness'. Personally, I'm not concerned. His record regarding the fight against terrorism speaks volumes unlike Kerry's.

Thanks for the links. No wonder I didn't notice a fallout regarding that interview. Put in its proper context, there really is no controversy.

I didn't read anything addressing my question in the links you provided cl-wrhen.

If electing Sen. Kerry sends a message of weakness to the terrorists, what message did George Bush send to these terrorists when he admitted on TV he could not win the war on terror?

Please, if you can, provide a specific answer to my specific question.

In context it does not send the message that you are purporting it does.

Do terrorists seek context?

Are you suggesting that if terrorists saw Bush on TV admitting when asked if the war on terror can be won:

"I don't think you can win it"

they would not accept those words at face value and see Bush as a weakening his stance?

The terrorists are evil, not stupid.

Some of us are less guilty of poor articulation than others.

Yes, this will be used as a sound bite, just like people take things Kerry says out of context & use them as sound bites. Works both ways, unfortunately. We should actually be debating the issues, instead we play games of GOTCHA!
