Convention visits to the World Trade Center site... Fenced protest zones (on both sides, yes I know)... Purple heart *BAND-AIDS*... If I see one more misleading/patronizing TV ad, I think I might puke. Anyone else find any of this incredibly offensive, or am I all alone? Glad to get this off my chest, even if no one agrees with me! ;-)

I too, was under the impression that GWB had admitted to his alcoholism, back in his younger days? (Doesn't affect my opinion of him, I know alcoholism is a disease). Having 2 alcholics in my family, even though they are recovered, they still refer to themselves AS alcoholics, even when they are "dry." So I don't think that was a lie....

I think the direction this thread has taken is a good illustration of WHY this election campaign is so depressing. We went from discussing how we all want substantive discussions to, in just a few posts, arguments about which party is slimier. WHO CARES??? The reality is that both parties have done repugnant, dirty, weasely things in the pursuit of power, sometimes in response to the other side and sometimes all on their own. Can we just agree on that and move on?

I wish we had even one candidate who did nothing with this mess besides ignore it and just do everything he can to be the best man he can be, and actually be deserving of the devotion that politicians seem to demand. Do you think Americans would vote for a man like that? Sadly, I think I know the answer - Only if he had the packaging and the advertising $$$$$$$$$.

If I were a political campaign advisor, I would do my best to steer clear of any negativity in the race.

I say, take the high road, keep away from being nasty and negative (as much as possible), and keep focused on the good that can come.

For DEMS and REPS = STOP POINTING THE FINGER AT EACH OTHER AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM!

Sometimes people can behave like such bratty children.......

Just my two cents - that strategy was what lost Al Gore the race. (Well, that and Bush's brother fudging the votes). Clearly he was the most qualified candidate and came off of a strong administration.

The deal is that politics are a NASTY business. War is a NASTY business. By the time you get to the level of being a Dem/Rep nominee, you have a lot of dirt under your fingernails. The trick is to hide it from the populace while you expose the opposition. The corruption that power brings...

This campaign season needs debates. Real debates......no knowing the questions beforehand. Bush and Kerry - face to face - asked questions with substance ....no "Why is the sky blue?" stuff. That way, we can watch body language, listen to their own thoughts - not some speech writers thoughts. I want to see and hear these two guys talk about real issues. And no fair letting Bush have any outside help via Cheney or Condi or anybody. Just Bush and Kerry. What are they waiting for? The last two days before the election?

Having a "positive" campaign made Al Gore loose the election???

That statement made me chuckle.

Oh and yes, he did come from successful office, unfortunately, the guy bad-mouthed that same office...

The guy (Gore) kinda scared me. He was like a robot.

On a different note: I just think that it's sad to see intelligent people be in this "brainwashed" state by Republicans and Democrats.

They walk around and say the things that they hear over and over again in the media...

So sad...........masses of people are becoming brainwashed mouthpieces for these politicians that they believe give a hoot about them........They stroll around saying the same thing over and over again, holding up the same banner, blah blah blah....

Wake up people......

It would be nice to have a candiate like that, but one thing I've noticed over the years with the campaigning is it's all about making the other person look bad about making your team look better for the job whether your rich or not. So even if that one candiate in the beginning ignored all the b.s. they would have to answer back to defend themselves against the public. If they didn't surely a lot of people would buy into it whether it was true or false. So I doubt it'd ever happen. XOXO.
