Convention visits to the World Trade Center site... Fenced protest zones (on both sides, yes I know)... Purple heart *BAND-AIDS*... If I see one more misleading/patronizing TV ad, I think I might puke. Anyone else find any of this incredibly offensive, or am I all alone? Glad to get this off my chest, even if no one agrees with me! ;-)

I agree! Kerry has tried to get Bush to do debates (weekly ones even!) but of course Bush has backed out of every one. I'd love that too and hope we get fair debates. XOXO.

Both campaigns have gone very negative. If President Bush had a good record to run on, then he would be running on his record. President Bush's record is terrible. As a result, the Bush campaign is running a smear and deflect campaign. If the American people "elect" Baby Bush and his merry gang of liars, then this country will continue to go in the wrong direction!

Give me a break Genie,

Kerry is far more dangerous to this country and he is also a big fat liar and he should be court-marshaled for meeting up with the communist enemy in North Vietnam. Yes, I personally am better off these last for years.... maybe thats because I work for a living and I like being responsible for my own actions.

Chin up! From a more positive perspective at least people care enough to get involved! Voter registration is up, so much so that Board of Elections offices are working overtime to get everyone registered before the deadlines. People have been more actively engaged in this election starting at an early period of time. Look at everyone here discussing the race! This is a good thing!!!

Yes, it would be nice if we could stay on a positive message and have open and fair debates and it'd also be great if we all lived in Mayberry. Truth is it doesn't sell newspapers and issues don't make headlines. Look at the majority of posts on this site. How many of the posts here actually add anything to the debate? You want real debate and issues you need to get out there. I was so floored by my canvassing activity this weekend that I told the IT guy at work to quit needling me and start talking issues. He then told me he wasn't voting for Bush or Kerry just so he could say we couldn't blame him for anything because he didn't vote for the winner. That's a cop out. I had a great time discussing real issues with voters. I had a great time discussing issues with my fellow volunteers. We discuss politics at lunch in my office and you really do realize there isn't much difference when you sit down to discuss the issues. And it's so much fun when your neurons are firing and you're having really good discussion, one on one or a small group. I check in here from time to time to see the topic of discussion. More often than not it's junk food, but I can still often find something to read for ideas and insight.

You're right there is an empty hole where the issues should be, but you're smart enough to have figured that out. A lot of people are noticing the vaccuum. The mudslinging is fun to participate in, throw around the usual BS about each political party, feel a little better when you can zing your fellow Americans that disagree with you. It's a blast. You can't expect a campaign to be on higher ground this chatroom can you? But at the end of the day it's like all you've done is eaten junk food. You feel bloated and malnourished maybe even guilt. There's a reason that the debates are more heavily watched then the conventions - because at the end of the day the race will be decided on the issues. But this energy is still a good thing. The next President needs to harness this energy to get us back on track.
