Heh heh. Of course they don't want Kerry to look good. Someone posted about it on the mailing list I'm on and another person replied and said Kerry called her up and gave her a job. Bush and Co. are determined to look better than Kerry. Thank goodness for the interent and boards like this one where I can hear about everything dealing with the election. XOXO.
Wow! Firing her was a little off the top, and unexcusable. But I have to admit, the flyer he sent home was a great ad for Bush, and really a lot truer then most people would ever let you know. No one wants to admit that it helped.
I like the idea that if we allow business owners to have more money, it benefits all of us. There will be more jobs etc.. But clearly they are not creating quality jobs.
And I noticed that giving his employees a raise was not on his list of things to do with his Bush tax cut.
Sadly this seems to be the case with a lot of companies. His employees probably make minimum wage and work 50 hours a week. Not exactly quality of life.
We should never assume anything. He may not have given raises, but without the cut, he may have had to fire people. Maybe they did get raises! Did you ask him? But which at this point is more important? Jobs or raises? Raises are important, but if he has to close the doors and can't create his product, you won't have either.
Granted, she got fired anyway, which was wrong. You can vote for whoever you want. But, we don't know if something else was going on as well. She may have been doing political rallying at work, or getting in his face knowing he is a Bush supporter. We probably will never know.
When something happens to you, do you tell the whole story, or only the part that makes you look good?
You're right. I am assuming that she doesn't make a lot of money, but it says in the article that she works 50-60hrs a week. As far as her doing any political rallying, it sounds like her boss was doing plenty of that himself. If my boss ever sent me a political ad with my paycheck I would be furious even if it was for John Kerry. It's not ethical and it puts his staff in a terrible position. Thank God we still have an anonymous voting system in this country.
This man will not lose his tax cuts if Kerry is president anyway, unless he is making over $200,000 a year, in which case I wish he would give his employees a raise. I don't think it's too much to ask for a Quality Job in this country. People keep saying, "you should just be grateful that you have a job." But when I watch the news there are all kinds of people announcing that the economy is stronger than it's ever been. Really? Then why do I have a meeting every week discussing cutbacks and layoffs. Why did my company take away my overtime hours, and not hire more people to make up the work. Why am I doing the job of 3 people at this point and not being properly compensated. Because there is no real incentive for companies to pay their employees a decent wage. And I know it's not just me. My husband and many of my friends are experiencing the same struggles within their companies as well.
The tax cuts were a great idea, but unfortunately it was not enough to solve our economic problems. It deny's human nature which is to hang on to your money for yourself, not trickle it down to your employees. This administration is stubbornly sticking to this one idea, announcing that it is working when it is not. Why are they so afraid to try something different. Keep the tax cuts, but try other things as well. In order to do this, they would have to acknowledge that there's a problem and then they are afraid to look weak. I wish the Bush Administration would drop the cowboy act, and really address and solve the problems in this country.
I appreciate you having this debate with me and look forward to any other points of view that you can offer. I know this board gets very heated, but I would love the opportunity to simply discuss issues!
Okay, that's fair. 9/11 did crash our economy. I agree with you that it will take more than a few years to turn that around. Also, since with war on terror is somewhat indefinite that will have an effect. I guess my frustration then, is that I feel like people won't acknowledge that the economy is having trouble. I am struggling and people I know are struggling but the news is full of smiling faces telling me everything is fine. I believe they do it so that we keep the same administration in office.
I may be more inclined to vote for Bush if he would admit that some people are struggling and announce some possible solutions that he will implement. Instead he keeps going back to cutting taxes. I'm in trouble if that's all he's going to do.
That is very fair. There are parts that are doing a lot better, and then there are areas that are doing worse. It is not all positive, and it should be addressed.

Part of the tax cut was also to get money circulating. When given extra money, people spend it. Which helps in other areas.
Without the tax
