Being a music freak I love finding out about new music. Here's some anti-war music for you to listen to. There's Beastie Boys (definite recommend), Green Day and even country legand Willie Nelson. http://onegoodmove.org/1gm/1gmarchive/000628.html is where you can download the songs. :) XOXO.

Well it appears that THIS president can, and get away with it. Scary indeed.

If Bush ahs his way these debates will be an watered down joke with NO hard hitting questions (unless they have been carefully screened and prepared for beforehand). Therefore, nothing of substance may come out in the debates and Bush will be declared the winner on "charm".

I agree. I think this administration has played right into the hands of the terrorists. Nothing could have been a more perfect recruiting mechanism that what is going on in Iraq right now. It would be one thing if this hadn't been foreseen but it was, by many experts in the field before the war. However, to the average American voter, what is going on in Iraq right now might be a shock to them...but it should not have been a shock to the American president. It behooves a leader who is about to launch a war to do their homework. Based upon Bush's stellar academic past, it appears that he has always had a problem with homework.

This deep and growing divide about the best way to handle the terrorist threat among Americans must also be filling the hearts of the terrorists with glee. The terror tactics used by those who flew the planes into the WTC have done what they initially set out to do.

<< he has effectively exploited 9/11 to scare Americans into supporting him >>

Remember 9/11: Stop sanitizing the killers

Michelle Malkin

September 8, 2004

"...The mainstream media pounded President Bush for trying to explain that the War on Terror is unwinnable in a conventional sense. The mainstream press itself proves the president's point every time its reporters disguise the deadly fanatical nature of our opponents in this global war. How are we to win a war against blood-spattered enemies whom our own free press continues to protect through politically correct sanitization?

It wasn't no-name militants or wayward guerrillas who have butchered, beheaded and slaughtered thousands of innocents over the last three years alone. Anniversary reality check:

In the name of Allah, Muslim terrorists in Russia stabbed babies to death, shot toddlers in the back, forced children to eat rose petals and drink their own urine, raped teenage girls, executed their teachers and blew themselves up in a crowded school gymnasium. Death toll: 338.

In the name of Allah, Muslim terrorists in Spain detonated bombs on four commuter trains during Madrid's rush hour. Death toll: 190.

In the name of Allah, Muslim terrorists in Bali blew up a beach resort with an electronically triggered bomb at one bar and a car bomb hidden in a van at another nightclub filled with young Western tourists on holiday. Death toll: 202.

In the name of Allah, Muslim terrorists in Pakistan kidnapped and beheaded American journalist Daniel Pearl.

In the name of Allah, Muslim terrorists in Saudi Arabia kidnapped and beheaded American engineer Paul Johnson.

In the name of Allah, Muslim terrorists in Iraq kidnapped and beheaded American independent contractor Nick Berg.

In the name of Allah, Muslim terrorists in Iraq kidnapped and executed Italian security guard Fabrizio Quattrocchi.

In the name of Allah, Muslim terrorists in the Philippines kidnapped and killed American missionary Martin Burnham.

In the name of Allah, Muslim terrorists in Israel engineered near-simultaneous suicide attacks on two buses, killing at least 15 people.

In the name of Allah, Muslim terrorists in Morocco waged suicide bombing attacks in Casablanca.

In the name of Allah, Muslim terrorists in Turkey bombed synagogues and the British consulate.

In the name of Allah, Muslim terrorists in America hijacked and incinerated three planes full of men, women and children, trapped pregnant women and firefighters in smoke-filled stairways, and forced office workers to leap 99 stories to their deaths after saying final prayers from the ledges of the World Trade Center on a peaceful September morning. Death toll: 3,000.

They tell us to "never forget." First, let's stop misremembering."

<< the red states are the poorest and most uneducated states, bush knows that. He knows stupid people scare easily and that's what he and the administration are counting >>

Excuse me???!! Quite a statement! Talk about painting with a broad stroke. Have you looked at a map lately that shows which states vote Red & which go Blue in elections? Let's not generalize. Democrats certainly have their fair share of stupid people.

SO, you are really not that scared for your life... how scared do we have to be to constitute going over there and bombing children in iraq. I think we have not any clue what nervous is. OUR troops are THERE, not the other way around. Who is creating the terror????

It is large scale for one city, (a major city, given) but how many babies were born that day? how many die daily in the U.S. did this put a huge rise in the national death rate for the week, year, or day? not really. How many buildings were NOT being bombed or knocked down by planes, how many planes were not hijacked? that is my point. IT was a huge event, I will not discount that, nor will I say that it was not heartwrenching for almost everyone, (including me, and it is still upsetting for me to think of, I think of all those kids who lost their mothers or fathers, and I think about the devestation it caused for so many people, and the upset and mental depression it caused the country and NYC. On an emotional scale, It was devestation. It reminds us of our mortality, it makes life real, it makes us realize how much can change in seconds. How our ffate is not in our hands. We are not in control. I think you are getting that I am saying ti was no big deal. I am not saying that. I never did. What I AM saying is that it is not as if every building is under attack, every city, or even ten cities, we dont need to be acting like we are getting bombed all over the place, The only place I woudl fear that would be if I worked at Planned Parenthood. But even the odds of that are slim. very slim. I feel that a lot of americans are going all nuts thinking we are going to be attacked. OUr media likes us to feel that way. WHY, I have yet to figure out.

One example, five or so years ago a little kid got tangled in his fitted bed sheets and it asphyxiated him/her. IT was on EVERY major news program. The kid lived nowhere near me but it was reported as a "little known threat" and I myself stayed up so late taking the bed sheets off my sons crib, putting them back on, as I thought the plastic matress was making him sweaty, and over and over until I finally put him in my own bed, and cried myself to sleep because I knew, that no matter what I could nto keep him safe from everything. It was nerve wracking. I felt guilty for lietting him have a fitted sheet the next night, but I decided that when God wants my kids, he will take them. It is not up to me and He trusts my judgement or he woudl not have given me kids.

well then, there you have it. Just so you know. hope you get thru all this it is a long one.

HOW many federal buildings are there in this country? were they ALL bombed, sure, I can see nervousness, but does that mean they should kill everyone in Iraq? Come on now,

??? I am still very confused by your post. My point was that the majority of folks who worked in the World Trade Center were NOT government employees; they worked for private financial companies. So, I am confused by your statement that you would be more concerned about being a victim of terrorism if you worked for the government.

Exactly what would you like me to say? I don't relish the idea of war. I don't relish the thought that innocent people do die in wars, all wars. I do not see our troops or the US as the terrorist. Saddam knew that we were coming. I'm sure someone here knows, but it was at least 4 months after Bush made his intent known that we actually invaded. Would I rather see everyone on this earth living peacefully and respecting others. Sure, but that is not the way it is. I can say that I wouldn't want to be in the Presidents shoes, or anyone one else at the federal level of the government that is responsible for evaluating the information and making descisions.

I wasn't taking part in half an argument. A poster through up some of the same old, baseless, inuendo filled rhetoric, and I chose to pass (she/he is however welcome to back up any of the points with fact. To participate in a strawman argument is pointless. You however, may choose to do just that if you like. There are plenty of them being put up by both Dems and Reps on this board. I understand that this is a debate board, but I choose to use it as a learning tool where I can share my point of view, and consider the point of view of others, on most issues, and gain my own knowledge on topics by the knowledge that others share.
