Dan Rather just apologized for using FAKE documents to attempt to slander the reputation of our sitting president in wartime in an attempt to sway the election. Maybe he didn't use those words, but that's the way it shakes out.

He did NOT say that he and CBS were going to persue and expose the perpetrators of this act. Wonder why not? Their credibility is shot. Their only hope at restoring ANY credibility in the future would be to turn on their source and rat him out. Unless, CBS is the source... Or John Kerry's campaign...

The only way I could see CBS recovering from this would be to fire EVERYONE on the CBS Evening News and start over.

What new revelations?

This is the same stuff that the Gore campaign used back in 2000?

The only new item is the fake documents that Rather still insists are not forgeries, even though he cannot find ONE expert anywhere to say that they are real.

At least Bush has signed the authorization to have all of his records released. Kerry still refuses to do so.....why? There can't really be anything in there that Kerry is hiding that some Veterans group has not attacked him on.

You're referring to "air America" with Al Franken, and had the conservatives not so soundly defeated the liberals in 2000 and 2002, Al Franken would not have come to have the power over so many willing liberals that he does.

Still no rebuttal, just name-calling and hatred from you. Par for the course.

Several have opined that there IS something significant -- like a less than honorable discharge, and that Clinton upgraded his discharge while he was handing out pardons to felon Democrat contributors and at least one fugitive from justice. That wouldn't even count the investigations he was no doubt subjected to because of his aid and comfort to the enemy.

Pretty serious stuff. In fact, someone suggested that the whole Dan Rather mess was orchestrated by the Kerry supporters so that if/when Kerry's REAL service record came to light then no one would believe the reports of atrocities it would contain because no one believed all the lies Rather tried to purvey about Bush.

Fine. Here's your formal rebutal:

<>

I routinely go to conservative and Republican links, so "plenty of people" ain't me. The only site I refuse to return to (not "even visit" as I've visited it alot and found it sorely lacking) is NewsMax.

<

Thank you for clearing that up.>>

I didn't say that, and I don't agree with it, so I can't rebut it. Clearly you are arguing with Frankenliberal.

Heck NO! There's no way that Lockhart didn't talk to Burkette about the memos. I mean....that was the whole reason that Burkette gave CBS as to why he wanted to talk to the Kerry campaign anyway. There was a trade deal that Burkette wanted....and for CBS to get the documents....it had to first give out Lockharts' number or pass the message along. Wonder what was on the other side of the deal for Kerry's campaign? (and...just to cover my bases, because I know eveyone will jump all over me if i don't point this out)...Even though Lockhart denies any deals.... Makes you say.. hmmmmmm.

Great point Miffy. Why hasn't he released them? GW has signed the paperwork (I THINK) to have all of his released. It does appear that Kerry is hiding something and does not want the stories to be given any fuel.

Maybe someone can shed some light as to why he hasn't done this.

Didn't the navy clear his story and say it was true? I posted an article about that. If it wasn't true how come Kerry makes it a main point in his campaign? Bush hardly talks about his record and there's stuff we don't know about him doing his service and on the papers has blots on certain things and I also saw a special (I think it was the BBC one but not positive since I've seen a lot of stuff lately) and a guy who worked at the Texas headquarters was told to put away stuff that wouldn't make Bush look bad. Why would Bush worry about that if he's so clean? I'm just wondering. XOXO.
