I don't think I'd characterize Gore's statement as "successful"-a successful lie is one that people actually believe, isn't it?
Well, I guess as long as folks like you and I keep replying, things like this will be posted, LOL. I guess you could make the very marginal argument that since Gore has decided to inject his voice into the election, it goes to his credibility? Kinda thin, I know...
In fairness to Al Gore, difficult as it is for me to say this because I'm certainly no supporter of his, in this instance I don't think he was lying so much as, well, bloviating as Bill O'Reilly would say. I think he simply miscommunicated what he was trying to say (that his policies helped create the environment in which the internet could emerge) in a rather humorous way. Of course liberals would have a field day if George W. Bush had said it...
