Maybe part of it is what your definition of 'super rich' is. I think you may be correct in saying most are democrats if you are talking about billionaires. To me though (and this is just my opinion) the dividing line is much lower, more like 100 million and above. I think the average lifetime earnings of a worker in this country is still under 1 million dollars, so more than 100 times that to me would be not just rich, but super rich.
I'm a democrat and I'm not super-wealthy. I'm a college student who lives at home with her parents now. My school is just ten minute's away from where I live and if I was to get a house it'd probably be an apartment downtown which would make me farther away from my school. Heh. Plus, living at home helps me have money for school books (which are highly pricy even used), clothes, etc. XOXO.
When you start to support yourself, you will be more likely to vote Republican. Also, statistics show that after you graduate from college, you will increase your likelihood of voting Republican. If you decide to start your own business, you will be even more inclined to support the GOP.
Why is it that Kerry supporters give Kerry a pass when he does it, and he is supposedly a terrific orator, but when Bush does it, and it is well known that he is not a great orator, people condemn him for it?
I saw a funny analogy somewhere, and can't recall it.
It went something like this (I am doing this from memory, so if it is a little off, please forgive me).
When you are born, and a young child, you are used to your parents caring for you.
When you go to school, you develop your own personality and your own way of thinking.
When you are in college, you most likely think on a liberal basis since the professors tend to lean that way, and since you are most likely being supported by your parents while in school and do not have to pay your own way.
When you graduate from college and begin to make real money, you trend towards the conservative side because you would much rather keep your money than letting the government have it.
I wish I had the link because it was a lot more eloquent than what I just said above, but I think you get the jist.
Why does me getting my own place etc. show me changing my voting? I could stay democrat for all I know. You, nor myself, know what I will stay as. Just because statistics show that it doesn't mean it nessessarily applies to me. I could stay democrat till I die. XOXO.
Oh and also I wanted to say that the past two/three months I've been doing a lot of reading on both parties, both canidates etc. and I just find myself agreeing a bit more-so on the democrat party now days. Only way I will vote republican is if the party changes more-so like it used to be when I was growing up. There's only one republican I am voting for and that's this guy named Zach Wamp who is senate I believe for Tennessee. I know more about him and what he stands for then the other guy (Wolfe, even though I knew his niece and she was a classmate in high school). I'm more-so for seperating the Church and the State (like you should), pro-choice and the envoriment for a few examples. XOXO.
Oh and one more thing too I just thought of: there's a group of people my age who live down the road and they share a house together and they have Kerry/Edwards sign in their yards. I assume they are either out of college now (I took a term off before heading straight into college, so most people my age who I've known almost forever have another year or two till graduating) and working jobs or doing jobs and supporting themselves. I'm not sure how many people actually live there though since I've seen two cars and a motorcycle. Of course I don't know these people or anything. XOXO.
