I voted 2to1 Republican when I was first voting and now I vote 2to1 Democratic. In over 20 years of voting I've tried to study the candidates and vote for the one that seems the best to me no matter what the party.

An opportunist is an opportunitst. I was referring to people who hold convictions, which may have evolved with maturity & experience.

I'm old & a liberal. I'm getting more liberal as time goes on. I supported myself since I was 19 years old. I have children. I have been mugged. I do know conservatives who have reformed, it happens overnight when you are minding your own business & you get rounded up & arrested with other people on the street who were liberals attracting the attention of the law in some way.

It's ridiculous to say going conservative is natural.

Interesting. Can you elaborate? I'm curious about where you started ideologically

I don't have my sarcasm hat on right now... very sleepy...

Have you seen these films? I was recommending them to anyone was interested and if you're not... what is your point?... you're not someone who dismisses something without seeing it first are you? you wouldn't compare paris to new orleans if you have never been to paris would you? because that wouldn't make any sense

more importantly, how do you make the pretty colors on your font?

(a) Bush is not a Republican in the traditional sense. He is for big government and total fiscal irresponsibility. He & his cohorts are Neoconservatives.

(b) That is not my experience. Every mom I know is fearful of having Bush in office four more years because of the terrible judgment he has shown and the danger we are all in because of it. My mom is in her 60s and is more Dem than ever, my husband's mom is Rep but voting Kerry this year, and literally all my friends who are moms wear J.K./J.E. buttons, and I don't really follow your math that every child a woman gives birth to makes her more republican... I have never seen it happen I guess!

A mom I know made this point to me recently:

Which leader is more likely to be able to mend relations with allies so that if/when we need to engage Syria/Iran/North Korea in military action (which many predict inevitable) we can do it with a true coalition of allies, instead of a draft? Iraq had no WMD's but we already know about nuclear arsenals in N.Korea, etc. and Putin is shelving democracy so is another cold war looming? Our military is stretched very thin by Iraq (a mess that's not going away anytime soon) and with all the other previously-friendly nations Bush has alienated (politically what leader would follow in Tony Blair's footsteps and bring on the loathing of their own citizens by trusting Bush ever again?), you realize conscription of our kids is in our future.

just another reason to use your noggin when you vote!

I don't get the gist. It's quite depressing. So money determines your politics? Maybe yours.

I don't understand the generalizing. People don't all do anything. Groups of people don't all think/act one way. I just don't know if that is supposed to have a reassuring effect on a person to read that kind of thing (ahhh, conformity... ahhh, i keep my money and sleep very well at night....)

or is it funny? didn't get it

Your tone is very special. Do you talk to people like that here because you talk to people in your house like that? Or is it because you're 15 and you're not allowed to talk to people in your house like that? Very special :)
