I find that really offensive. I think you find it funny...? or helpful...? The strong implication is that liberals are childish and stupid if they don't become conservatives. Is it just me or does anyone else agree?

How about this for a generalization:

Republicans are sheltered conformists who see the world very simplistically and lump people into groups so they can wrap their brains around things that are different. Hence their attraction to organized religion, suburbs, and Disneyworld.

That doesn't sound very nice does it? I don't know if you think some of us are lying on this board but, like others have already said here, I know MANY adults (accomplished/educated/interesting/vibrant/affluent/artistic/parents/property owners)

who don't fit the path you describe AT ALL.

You do keep insisting, on putting it out there though, which is creepy and very invalidating to many OTHERS. What would happen if you examined why it is that this idea appeals to you? Why it's necessary to understand how "everyone" thinks or evolves and identify a pattern that all people seem to fit for you? You must see the polls, so you know a huge number of Americans are not identifying as "conservative" -- so your pithy theory serves to validate some (people who resemble you) and make invisible the rest, which must feel safer to you somehow?

Scary as it sounds, I believe we are all a big mixed-up stew of individuals sharing this country and trying to get along. And a HUGE number of us are mature adults who abhor any number of the "conservative" (and especially the neoconservative) politics presented as an option on our ballots.

You probably meant that as a light off the cuff comment and you got a lecture. It just really made me think! thx for listening

How nice of you to be so interested in me. Aren't you the same person who has been rude to me several times? I ask because you are requesting me to tell you the entire story of my evolving life long philosophy. That's a big request & a very personal one.

I suspect you are isolated in a like minded group of people. I am not seeing the patterns you describe in my family, friends, or coworkers. I know several people who are getting more liberal as they get older.

About the conservative who became a liberal. He was against demonstrators & liberals, thought people should be working & not bothering everybody. He lived in Wash DC, was walking down the street one day on the way to his bank, when he got arrested along with dozens of those pesky protesters. He was treated rudely & roughly, even tho anyone could see he wasn't one of the protesters just by his attire. He understood that day that his civil rights were violated. He became concerned about our government overstepping the line on our freedoms.

Still waiting for proof he lied.

Did Kerry lie about his 8 different positions on the Iraq war? Did he lie about the statement he made about voting for the $87 billion before he voted against it?

You don't have to lie in the gutter to know it's filthy. I passed when all the Clinton documentaries were floating around, and I'll do the same this time around, thank you very much.

>>Still waiting for proof he lied<<

There was an 18-minute interval between the first and second planes hitting the WTC on Sept 11, 2001.

Bush claimed on at least two occasions that the morning of Sept.11, 2001, he saw the first plane strike the WTC on TV in a Sarasota school before he was told the second plane struck.

No footage of the first plane striking the WTC was shown on TV in the 18-minute interval before the second attack happened.

Bush lied.

The warnings were that there would be an attack IN THE US, and that planes could be used. Please inform yourself. Condalezza Rice has acknowledged this already publicly. It was in a report given to the president.
