Ted Kennedy says America is less safe now--I guess he means since he has a driver's license and stopped attending AA

WEAR A BLUE BOW EVERYDAY BETWEEN NOW AND NOVEMBER 2ND TO SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR THE KERRY/EDWARDS TICKET. I SUGGEST BRIGHT BLUE GROSGRAIN RIBBON. ACTUALLY TIED INTO A BOW; NOT THE USUAL RIBBON LOOP WORN FOR OTHER CAUSES. SPREAD THE WORD AND WEAR YOUR RIBBON.
THANK YOU!
Once again, nothing new here. We all know he probably used cocaine when he was young. Does that mean for the rest of his life he can't favor any tough drug legislation? In my opinion the people who know firsthand the damage drugs can do to your life are more than qualified to want to stop others from repeating their mistakes. Bill Clinton used drugs, I'd be very surprised if John Kerry didn't, given who he was associating himself with in the seventies. WHO CARES? I did a lot of stupid things when I was younger. Luckily no one I know judges me on them now. The idea that he should "fess up" and be completely honest about it is rich too. I'd like to see Clinton fess up to all of his past mistakes. Never gonna happen. He's admitted he made mistakes when he was younger. 'Nuff said for most people (at least the ones who aren't actually looking for things to smear him with.)

How can you forgive someone who has never sought forgiveness, who didn't try to help the poor woman still trapped in the car, who went to a motel to sleep off the alcohol, who did not report the incident to the police until the following day, costing Mary Jo Kopechne her life?
-- But his past mistakes drunk driving, cocain, desertion of his guard duties ( after 30 days it's not awol its desertion)
Yes, President Bush admitted that he had an adiction problem, which he has been fighting for over 10 years, and knowing others going through the same thing, it is something to be comended, not looked down upon. If he were still drinking and using drugs as Governor of TX or President, then it would be a matter of the most severe concern, and he would not be fit to be President. You state that we should not be looking at what someone did 30 years ago in Vietnam, even though that person is making his service the centerpiece of his campaign, but then try to use something that happened over 16 years ago against the current President, who has admitted time and again that he made several mistakes when he was younger, and is living a different life now.
With regards to your assertion about his guard duties, where is the proof that he deserted? Mary Mapes researched this story for over 5 years, and the best she could come up with was forged documents, and nobody to support what they say. This has been used against President Bush back when he was first running for Governor of TX and dating back to then, over 10 years ago, nobody has been able to prove these allegations. If you listen to Terry McAullife and other Democratic talking heads, they feel that it is up to the President to prove that the allegations are false. I guess they forget that in this country a person is innocent until proven guilty.
-- They are not what will make me vote for or against him, it's what he has done in the last 4 years, and do I think that another 4 will be good for America, thats how I decied to cast my vote
And people can decide on what John Kerry has done in 19 years in the Senate, and what he has done for Massachusetts. His claim to fame there is the Big Dig, which is going to finish at more than 730% over budget (original budget $2.5 billion...final estimated cost $18.3 billion). He is showing he has no idea of fiscal reasoning, as his projected health care plan is going to cost over $1 trillion, and even if he scales back the tax cut on the wealthiest 2% of the population, that will only pay for 20% of this plan. Where is the rest of the money coming from.
Now lets look at his education plan which will cost an additional $150 billion on top of what the funding already is. Where is this money going to come from. Do not believe him when he says that he will not raise taxes, except to roll back the tax cuts on the top 2%. He cannot pay for his proposals without raising taxes on every working american, and it would have to be the largest overall tax increase in the history of this country.
I do not like how Bush has been fiscally irresponsible, but I see Kerry as being even that much worse.
People are focusing, and the more they know about John Kerry, the less they like him, which is why so many typically strong Democratic states are closer than they should be.
This is going to be a similar election to 2000. People may not like Bush, but they dont like Kerry either.
But to make you happy I saw Ted Kennedy on with Chris Matthews and I even told my husband he sounded bad - babbling, rambling, space gaps in his speech, just plain awful (and I agreed with him!). He and Bush can be drinking buddies!
